Join the eBay Boycott!!! NO BUYING, NO SELLING on eBay from Feb 18-25 & Beyond! (if possible) Ebay buyers and sellers are planning a boycott due to the new fee and policy changes coming soon. On January 29th eBay announced they: lowered their Insertion Fee by $.05-$.80 (depending on your starting price) lowered some of the other "extras" (that most sellers don't even use anyway) made Gallery free BUT INCREASED the Final Value Fee (FVF) from 5.25% to 8.75%, INCREASED the Reserve Fee from $1.00 to $2.00 and made it NON-REFUNDABLE (used to be refundable if your reserve price was met) INCREASED the FVF on stores from 10% to 12% Is taking away the seller's right to leave neutral or negative feedback to buyers who deserve it (buyers will only be able to receive positive feedback when the new policy goes into effect) AND PayPal WILL HOLD payment funds until either the buyer has left positive Feedback or 21 days have passed without a claim if they (PayPal) determine that the risk of dissatisfied buyers is high with you, the seller. Per the new policy, "where it has been determined the risk of dissatisfied buyers is higher, PayPal may delay release of the payment funds to the seller until the buyer has left a positive feedback or 21 days have passed without a dispute, claim, chargeback or reversal filed on that transaction. To determine if a transaction may have a higher risk of dissatisfied buyers, eBay reports to PayPal a number of factors, including but not limited to: Seller's % Positive Feedback in the last 30 days Seller's Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 30 days Final price for the item Shipping & handling fee Seller's eBay tenure as an eBay member Seller's total number of Feedback" For more information/details of the upcoming boycott, please click on the link below which will take you to the discussion board about it. http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000636290&tstart=0&mod=1202504825152 Also, check out these U-Tube videos which will sum it up nicely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23TomS5--nQ&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-n2YWwXUKY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4MtVPuU9-Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23TomS5--nQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eT4lDozvjvY Please join in the boycott! I have forwarded this to most friends in my address book, hope everyone else does too! A boycott of any size may help us convince E-bay and Paypal that we would switch to a competitor if someone new were to dare enter their market. Fees are what made me move on and start a web page for my home business. Was doing fine until I was paying 100.00 a month on just fees. Paypal, store, merchant tools, insertion fees, final fees then shipping. Wasnt making much. So what else to use besides paypal for payment? Title: Re: Boycott ebay week Post by: bubba on February 15, 2008, 11:14:21 am So what else to use besides paypal for payment? Google has a "Google Checkout" pay system I've used a few times... seemed to work well, but not many people use it yet.. Title: Re: Boycott ebay week Post by: bubba on February 18, 2008, 03:20:37 pm I just registered there today... it doesn't appear to be for the casual seller. They charge $8/month for the basic seller account. You can register to buy for free, but there is a monthly fee to sell. :censored:
Title: Re: Boycott ebay week Post by: Pat Pixley on February 18, 2008, 03:58:09 pm Yes there is a fee to sell , BUT they only get in once a $8 once a month or
the deal I looking at is the charter member at $96 a year here are some of the thing I like Low $8 monthly membership fee No listing or re-listing fees No final value fees (sales commissions) Freedom to post personal website information with every listing True competitive bidding - highest bid wins Our promise to our customers: Keep OnlineAuction.com simple and economical to use. Be less controlling and more supportive of our customers. Continue to develop innovative features and tools that are user friendly. Stay loyal to our customers! Yeah it may cost but your getting out from under E bay thumb.
