Title: Ever see a 9 Pull Stoner 180 with Gum Wheel... check this out
Post by: SIGNGUY on January 06, 2008, 09:31:14 pm
A friend of mine, just sent me this photo of a Stoner 180 he picked up last weekend at an auction.. he called me and told me it was a Stoner and started to describe it to me that it had 9 pull knobs and a gum wheel... I asked him if he was sure, he said yeah, and told him to send me a photo... never seen this configuration like this before.. but it's definatly a stoner/univendor... Hmmm

I sold one three weeks ago on craigs list, mine didn't have the mirror option though

I have had a few of those, harder to move. Here are a few of the machines I had done, all are restored and in someones home or garage.

THanks Guys, but your missing my question... Take a closer look at the picture I posted... It has 7 pull knobs under the regular part then 2 additional pull knobs under the gum wheel... total of 9 pulls... not the standard 8.
Johnnie G:.. yours is similiar but only has 8....

My point and question is has anyone ever seen a 9 Pull machine... curtis... i don't see one in your Massive Pile of machines either....

Just found it strange...

Good eye! I had 20 or so of these candy machines years ago...wish I still did! I still have one in my barn that has not seen daylight in 10 years. I will check it tonight...I think it is a 9 pull... can't remember though. I also have a cig machine... I'll check it's numbers too!

In the very first picture, third machine down, is a 9 selection, without the gum. I had not seen a 9, with gum. I have the JR, with the gum, 5 pulls and a pull for the gum.

Well, I was wrong I don't have a 9 pull with gum......I have an 11 pull with gum. Definately a Stoner, has a set of hooks on the back, indented for electric cord storage. From what I could tell no lights though.

The Cig machine is a National 113, on the far right hand side it has two pulls very close together and the merchandise spots are very small for those two pulls.

Those two are probably for match books.

I know I am reviving a very old topic, but I just came across one of these that is very close to me.  It is currently listed on Ebay at;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130478811052&ssPageName=ADME:X:BOCOR:US:1123

I have not seen the machine as of yet, but supposively it is completely origonal & rust free. It is red with a white top.

I do not believe that it is origonal, I think it has been painted.   The pictures are not clear of the whole machine, but in the few pics that he has posted it looks like there is paint overspray on the white portion.

I threw him a lowball offer & he counter-offered.  What would be a fair value for this machine?

The paint is not original and the vend glass is missing the decal.  The paint job looks to be a spray can or one step above.  There also appears to be paint or something on the pull know below the gum wheel.  The mirror is also showing signs of flaking.  It if is complete and working,I wouldn't offer more than $300-$400 because you can get a complete unrestored machine for that price.

Thanks for the input.  Being that it is painted red & white on top like a Coke machine I knew the paint was bogus.

There is a reason why there are not any good pictures of this machine.

The only thing that really was attractive is that it is only two towns away.

I'm glad he didn't take my offer for $500.

Is this candy machine worth the $250 they are asking?  if not than what's a good price to offer for it. The big plus for me is that the place were it for sale is at  Games People Play http://www.games-peopleplay.com/ (a pretty cool place to check out) and it's nice and close.

I have one.  Just trying to find time to to add decals, etc. Body in great shape. Had to drill the locks and will need to replace with like.   Picked it up about a year ago.  Does seem like the 7+2 pull with gum/mint is not as common.

Ray,

That is too much for that machine unless you really want it.  Those are heavy and not a lot of demand for that one--at least yet.  If you keep your eyes peeled, you can find an unrestored Stoner for $250.  Might not have the gume wheel but the styling of the stoners beats the heck out of the Nationals.

I don't know, I kind of like the look of the National candy machines.  Got lots of cool chrome on it.

The problem of machine's "worth" is that teh sellers all think they are worth a fortune and we look at them as unrestored projects.

I was going after one on ebay a few weeks ago that was close to me.  I set a dollar value of what it was worth to me.  The bid went higher than I wanted to spend so I let it go (it needed a bunch of work)

I don't think that $250 is alot of money if you like the look of it, want a toy for the game room / basement and it is a complete machine.  I would probably pay that myself.  If you are looking to restore it & flip it for a fortune, that isn't gonna happen.

These machine usually go for about $50-$100. I let a pile of them go for $50 each. I just don't find them very appealing.

Thanks guys for input, candy machines are new to me. After reading all the posting about them I got interested. Seeing this machine on same page a Stoner I can really see the difference between the manufacturers. The Stoner looks allot better . I 'm looking to add one to my basement /game room , not to flip.  So with that said, what should I be looking for when buying one of these machines ?  Are there any models to avoid? Should they light up?  Any help would be appreciated.

Ray

Any six pull Stoner is nice.  A Jr. or 120.  I like the stand with a door in front instead of a base with no door.

Like Larry Said, if your going to get one for yourself, go for the Stoner Jr... Yes a little harder to find, but they are smaller in size and for me space is always the issue...
I have on for sale.. its' a jR with base... it's a nice machine , just needs restoration.. asking 550 for it.

Here is a nice looking Junior on E-Bay.  It even has the dispensing tray cover.  Looks pretty straight too!
