This liner came out of a Pepsi machine so it will take the larger bottles. You could install this into a coke machine and be able to vend larger bottles. Is this true? Never owned a Pepsi VMC27, so I don't know. How much deeper could it be? I've seen pictures of Pepsi 27's and it looks like the same machine. Walter's book usually points out these things, but there is no mention of it. Seller also has a nice repro pipe stand listed for $25 OB if anyone is interested. Post by: johnieG on December 31, 2007, 05:19:09 pm Hmm, the only difference between a Coke vs Pepsi V27 that I recall is that the Pepsi chassis is aluminum while the Coke was steel. other than that, they were the same machine internally. but I could be wrong, unless pepsi had a bigger vending drum??? hopefully someone else can clear it up..
Title: Re: Is this sellers statement true? Post by: Larry on December 31, 2007, 06:32:10 pm The Pepsi and Coke 27's were the same size. A friend of mine told me that he got his vmc 33 to vend the 12 ounce bottles. I think he removed the back section to make more room for the 12 oz. bottles.
I don't know if there was a gap between the back plate and the outer shell. I wonder if he removed the insulation or if he just moved the back piece back and then reattached it. If this is true then the 33's and 27's could be modified to accept 12 oz. bottles. I had a 27 last year, but I sold it before I learned of his trick. I don't recall there being much room or even what the back looked like. I will contact him for more information on Wednesday. Who knows maybe it's his own Urban legend. Title: Re: Is this sellers statement true? Post by: Jim on December 31, 2007, 06:33:27 pm Johnie, you have it backwards; Coke is aluminum whereas the Pepsi version is steel.
As far as bottle size is concerned, I don't recall ever seeing a difference in cabinet depth between Coke and Pepsi 27's which would allow for a longer bottle... And if the drum accepted larger diameter bottles, I would think this the lessen the vending capacity... Thus, the model wouldn't be a "27"... - - - - EDIT - - - - Mills, The "27's" do not have the baffle in the back which, as you stated, can be removed to allow a longer bottle to vend... Title: Re: Is this sellers statement true? Post by: MoonDawg on December 31, 2007, 06:53:40 pm I installed a Pepsi 27 liner into a Coke 27 cabinet once and can testify
the Pepsi is deeper. That forced me to shim the compressor back 1" and then the back cabinet cover would no longer fit. Title: Re: Is this sellers statement true? Post by: collecture on January 01, 2008, 05:38:59 pm Interesting!
So is the cabinet on a Pepsi 27 deeper? My Coke (aluminum) VMC27 has always (since I bought it in the early 70's) had a Pepsi (enclosed/steel) base. The Coke 27 fits on it just perfect. Is the compressor assembly different on a Pepsi 27? The liner can't be the only difference or why would Glen have had to shim things up and unable to use the back cover. They both have the back panel and what looks to be the same compressor configuration. Title: Re: Is this sellers statement true? NO[ /color] The liner can't be the only difference YES [/quote I had a customer supply me 2 machines with enough parts to complete a restoration for him. The liner from the blue machine was the better so I had it polished. But when I installed it into the aluminum cabinet things didn't line up. I think I had to shim the compressor back because of the evaporator clearance. |
