I picked up a Glasco 50 yesterday and it needs a new cord to plug in the wall- An easy fix  I thought - until I saw this. I removed the terminals from the machine, and my question is - what do I replace this with? Is there a junction box of some sort avbailable ? (Today is Sunday and every store is closed.)   The cord on the bottom is the wall plug-in. Any help is much appreciaqted.

I had the same issue with my glasco slider, I ended up using a standard wiring harness from funtronics.  The 2 wires running up into the box are for the fan and switch inside the box.  Just wire up the compressor, thermostat and run hot non switched for the fan/swich inside the machine.

Same type harness that is used on all machines that require a hot lead to the main door (ie. V81 (light), C72 (coin mech), etc.). It is the deluxe harness from Fun-Tronics ($45)

     Today is Sunday and Radio Shack is open. A terminal strip, an
outdoor rated power cord, 16 ga. wire and some connectors.......
make your own junction box as shown.

Thanks Glen - i will give it a try. I was thinking about trying something like that and the picture helps. I am in the middle of South Dakota and the closest radio shack is 72 miles away -so it will have to wait until tomorrow. :happydrinkers:

I prefer not to have exposed wiring on my machines, the wiring terminal strip idea works, but exposes 120 volts to anything or anyone that gets into the back of the machine.  :Oo:

I'd sugest wiring it into an electrical handy-box with a blank cover, which is available at any hardware store & it would set you back less than two bucks. I use a single-gang size, but you may wish to use the double-gang size box as it has more room inside for the wiring terminal strip.

Thanks for everyone's help.  I have to get a couple of things for my 81A from Soda-Jerk Works and I see they have a wiring harness for $36.  It will cost a few extra $$ but in the long run - I think its the way to go. Thanks again

      Terminal strips have available plastic covers which was not in
the pic. Wires could also be pigtailed together and taped up and
clamped to the frame.
       A vendo 81 restoration does ot deserve that Sunday quick
fix but when a square corner machine can be bought for $50.00,
another $50.00 for the proper wiring hurts.
       The electrical handybox is a great vault for wiring but I find
it hard to find a discreet way to hide it, but it would be great for
the slider,
        If anyone has found better products, I hope they will step
up and share with us.

I've just always pigtailed and used wireconnectors then electrical tape, then hind the whol works in a metal outlet box, cover it fasten it to the frame or fan motor brace and paint black with the rest of the compresor area... Cheaper way to go to as long as you can figure out the wiring.  First couple I had done I used harnesses as well as I never took the time to figure out which wire was for what and where did it go.. .oh what a mess for a first timer.
