Title: Quikold Jr. Post by: Gumbo on October 14, 2007, 07:59:37 pm What would be a fair price on a Quikold Jr - RC or Barq's (unrestored)? I'm still looking for one and would like to know what fair market value is before I find one.
Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: coke_and_stuff on October 14, 2007, 08:29:03 pm Good question, Not enough come up for sale to give a general market value, More than likely if you find one you will have to use your gut instinct. I do wish you luck on your search, if you keep at it one will eventually be found.

one.... There was a Barqs on eBay a while back but it was, I believe, a cut down standard or master due to the size of the lid and width of cooler... Standards prices are all over the place the Nesbitt's one on eBay a couple months ago went over a grand, a Mission Orange went for $400 a couple years ago and a Pepsi standard went for $275 about 3 years ago.... seems soon as I really start looking for a certain style of cooler or candy machine the prices sky rocket..... Quikold now seems everyone is looking... just like the Stoner Junior 2 years ago they were going for $350-$450... when I decided I would try and get one they are now unrestored $700-$1000 Aghhhhh!!!!! SO I just keep looking... So hang in there somewhere there is a junk store or little mom & pop antique shop that has your Quikold junior sitting waiting for you at a deal of a price! And if there's a Standard sitting by it call me! Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: Sodak Bob on October 15, 2007, 07:15:34 am I agree - it is hard to set a price when so few of them come up. I hate to admit it, but I paid a little over a grand for my double dot pepsi junior. But after sitting at an auction all day I wasn't in the mood to come home empty and it was in very good original shape. Good luck on your search - there are still a few around waiting to be discovered.
Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: sodaman on October 15, 2007, 09:21:06 am Hey Matt: See you are prowling around this site, I just bought a Rockola bar, it will go nicely with my Rockola jukebox and Rockola Coke machine. H

Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: coke_and_stuff on October 15, 2007, 11:05:15 am Eric where is that Nichol Kola located?
Joey Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: Eric on October 16, 2007, 09:26:04 am Well... the guy wanted $450... he has come down to $300?
Would it be worth it?... the lid and sides are good, has the opener, handle, hinges, but hello? the front and back with embossing is cut in half!!!!.... Have a friend who has a generic standard for $300 but I need the embossing of ICE COLD I had a Nehi side I got at a flea market years ago... but traded it off that had the ICE COLD on it some of the larger S&S cooler and larger Quikold models had ICE COLD embossed on the sides/ends anyone have a monster cooler I could buy the sides off... Am I crazy? This would be pretty rare.. but needs a lot of work... like buying a 57 Chevy without the back end..... What would you guys do? Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: loman4ec on October 16, 2007, 09:41:51 am I think I would fix it without the ice cold embossed and just use decals. Either way it is such a rare machine if you plan to keep it no one would ever know the difference. Is the lower half the same as a westinghouse jr?
Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: collecture on October 16, 2007, 11:33:37 am That last pic you posted looks like there might be enough of the "ICE COLD" to make it work - no?
It would be some work! The Double Cola Quikold Junior in Walter's 3rd doesn't have the "ICE COLD", so if you had to do it without - I don't think many people would notice. Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: coke_and_stuff on October 16, 2007, 11:58:23 am Grab it! That seems like a fair deal on a uncommon box. If you had to do without the ICE COLD I dont think it would hurt the value any as hardly any of these come up for sale. Makes me wish I would have kept that rough 7up Jr I had years back.

"ice cold" letters from the Quickold and weld in the "ice cold" letters from an old Westinghouse ? We've all decided that Eric should own what's left of this cooler. :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: Eric on October 16, 2007, 10:02:31 pm Made an offer will see what they say... what would be perfect would be for a large Quikold 1400 0r a 2000 with embossed ICE COLD on the ends to pop up..
ICE COLD on a Westinghouse is different.... So if I get it I'll just keep waiting for a donor cooler... And wait , wait... Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: collecture on October 16, 2007, 11:16:20 pm I thought the Westy's looked different, but if you change your mind and think you can make it work - I'd be more than happy to cut the "ICE COLD" out of the ends on my WE-6 and ship them to you.
Otherwise, I'll keep an eye out for you! Good Luck! Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: Creighton on October 17, 2007, 12:36:59 am Be looking out for you as well.
Tom, if you go hacking up your WE... I'd take the upper left side embossing and some of the back side skin. Not sure what someone was up to but mine has what looks like close range shotgun slug hits. Ugly. Thanks! Creighton Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: collecture on October 17, 2007, 06:06:38 am Creighton,
When you come down in Nov. - you can haul mine back if you can/want - I'll give it to you and you can hack up your "ICE COLD" for Eric if he needs it. Mine is in great shape - no rust or dents to speak of - it is just missing everything. Title: Re: Quikold Jr. Post by: Eric on October 17, 2007, 10:06:38 am Well I think I'll be picking it up next weekend... A fool and his money.....
anyway the front has ICE COLD just below the letter but with welding I will probably loose some of that... yet the back which is cut the same there is no ICE COLD.... so... ah we'll see.... And thanks guys for the offers but I'll just wait for a rough 1400 or 2000 to pop up... want it to be 100%... |
