Title: Cav 72
Post by: Kevin C on October 11, 2007, 10:38:07 am
Hello

It has been awhile since I last had any action with machines but a Cav 72 has almost dropped into my lap. I was at a house bidding on a remodeling job when I saw a round top machine in the garage. The wife at the house was on the verge of telling me to haul it away for free because her husband had the machine for awhile & it was taking up space.  Well wife decided to ask husband & said she would get back to me.  Well the remodeling job was locked in warm jello so I walked away because the home owners did not know what they really wanted & did not want to spend much money. Well this was about 4 weeks ago but yesterday my service manager ran into  the owner somewhere & he asked us to return to look at the remodel job after he had problems with another contractor. So today at 3 I will return and try to score the Cav 72 to help clear some junk out of the garage.

The freon, R-12 is damaging to our ozone and is not legal to
use today. This guy would be wise to get rid of this old machine
before the state air quality control board requires him to change
it over to R-134A.

Also the insulation used before 1970 had high levels of asbestos
and can be very toxic if inhaled!

That old brittle wiring on those old soda machines could short
circuit and start a fire at any time!

Oh yeah, and lead based paint ...............

Excellent Kevin ! ! !
Did you get to finish the bad remodel too...

I have to admit, with this year coming to a close in a couple of months, this year seems like it has produced more deals and uncovered quality machines than years past...

Congrats! SWE-EET deal! Agree with Jim.. some nice stuff has turned
this year! We may need to have a “This years Find” Post in December!
Would give me a couple more months to turn something up as the well went dry here! :upside:

Hello

Here is a shot of the Cav 72 being moved into my garage to be hidden under a white sheet.

I am not sure of the quality of the photo as it was taken with my phone camera.

A red door! Nice!
And Thanks Glen... I took my 81 apart in the basement a couple years ago and though I wore one of those little dust mask... I'm freaking out on the asbestos
I didn't know that until now....

I have yet to really mess with mine, but I really like the size too.
Wasn't as good a deal as yours ($800)!

Hello

We  decided that I did not have time for this machine & have sold it to an out of state coke machine man.  So I doubled my money in less than two weeks.

Now I need to get a nice V-110 shell.
