yeah, I had never seen one in person.  It was about 30 inches wide so it would not fit in my wife's purse.  I took some more pictures that I will get re sized,  the soda fountain was all marble and looked like you could just fire it back up in a second...

Is this an operating fountain, or a museum display?

It is not a working fountain. It is in the orginal building of Biedenhart Drug Store and is maintained by the vicksburg historical society.

The brochure says it was were coca cola was first bottled in the U.S.< that does not what I have read about coca cola history but I was not going to argue with them..

Joseph Biedenharn was the first actual person to put Coca Cola in bottles, Shelf life then was less than a week. Thats a cool place GB I have been there but it was a long time ago.

Shelf life less than a week!   Bottles were not sealed tight?

Hutchinson bottles, alot of times if they were turned upside down they would leak. Pre 1900 pre crown top.

Nice museum I've been there several times.

How did you like the cobblestone streets and hilly parking?

The casinos are the main attractions now. Lots of good shopping and old homes downtown.
Did you go through the military park? The view of the MS river from the bluff is great.

We really liked the trip through vicksburg.  We had actually been there before and just found the old soda fountain.  Not much on the casino's but I like to go to the old battle fields.  I love the look of these truly great old towns....
