Title: Summer projects completed.
Post by: sodaworks on September 21, 2007, 02:09:06 pm
Hey Guys,
I've been really busy the last few months trying to restore a couple of old dirtbikes for myself! It seems that for the last few years I've been putting my stuff on hold and I decided I would take a little break from machines and have some fun on one of my other passions. I've been doing a little GP and MX racing this last year on my newer KX250 and I started getting the bug to restore a couple of older bikes for the vintage races. I always wanted a 73-74 Honda Elsinore CR250M dirt bike. This was the first true dirt bike ever built by Honda. This bike was completly disassembled, frame powdercoated and every nut and bolt has been replaced. Motor and tranny have also been totally rebuilt. The ignition system has also upgraded from the breaker point set up to an state of the art electronic CDI. The suspension has also been upgraded. All new bearing's, bronze bushing's, controls, cable's, etc....This bike is better than when it rolled off the show room floor!

Thanks Guys!
I was supposed to start racing the bikes this coming Sunday.........But I crashed really hard (cased a triple) on Monday on my modern bike. I'm out for a while with some badly bruised ribs. :veryangry:

Coke machines are more easy on the body! I have a V39 torn down and ready to sandblast. I am hoping to get started on it soon.

Nice work as always Terry!
And a lot more fun to do something for yourself I'm sure.
The older we get, the softer the bones get too.
Take it easy and don't do any VMC 242's or 340's or anything monsterous like that.

Don't know about you Terry, but I don't "bounce" as well as I used to.
To bad that "Youth is wasted on the young"!

The bikes look great!!!

Sorry to hear about the wreck.. that sucks.. I'm like to go fast and a few minor jumps on my 4-wheeler, but I am usually on atleast 2 wheels. My wife would brake whatever bones I didn't if I came home busted up after riding..
