Title: Westinghouse WC-78-MD value? Post by: BryanH on September 01, 2007, 06:31:22 pm I'm sure this has been asked before (and possibly recently) but I'm struggling to make the search work... So, I'm taking the easy way out --> posting new.
Looking for the value of a WC78. Supposed to be working. Looks to be in good condition. Don't know if it has spacers for can & bottle vending. Anything else I should look for on these machines when I go to see it? Title: Re: Westinghouse WC-78-MD value? Post by: johnieG on September 01, 2007, 08:59:46 pm Make sure the vending motor works, as replacements are hard to come by, and the coin-box & cap-catcher are important pieces to be sure. & regardless which rack-spacers it has,
(bottle or can spacers) be sure it has all six of them. another thing to look out for is missing selector linkage & severly cracked liners. cracks can be patched, but missing chunks of it, will warrant replacement or patching with fiberglass. and the usual stuff, blistering paint along the belt line. rusty inside bottom pan/liner. missing trim. Post by: johnieG on September 02, 2007, 01:13:58 pm I could take some pics when I get home today after work, But I don't have any on this laptops hardisk, but they are located in the very rear of each column & are moveable ( forward to back within the columns) & they are somewhat hard to remove, but they do show up missing from time to time, just l look into each coulmn & see if there is a movable rear track/spacer with what looks like a channel running the length of it. heres a quick drawing of what you're looking for.....

I was just given a trashed WB-78 as you saw in another post. I could not see Johnnie's drawing, as I am on the PS3 because my son is on the computer right now, but I would bet they are the same and I have all six. I probably have some of the other parts too. Post by: halehouse on September 02, 2007, 09:09:55 pm So far nobody has ventured a guess, but I would say if it was fairly clean, complete and working, I would go up to $400 for a 78 with the dial. I like them. The shorter model 60 would be even better, but this one isn't too tall. I just passed on one that wasn't cooling and had a lot of surface rust. Guy was stuck at $200. What does everyone else think?

Quote A 2" piece of PVC will serve as my extended. I can drill two holes in the back of it near the top, insert 2 hooks, and hang it from the top of the channel. Post by: Bob K on September 06, 2007, 11:36:27 am I agree with Dan regarding the "up to $400.00" rule of thumb. These are my favorite squaretops but for some reason they don't fetch big bucks.
