Title: compressor unit Post by: zadd on August 12, 2007, 12:54:27 pm I have a compressor unit out of a 60's vendo 126 and when you plug it in it makes the refrigeration sound and try's to start the compressor over and over etc. What do I need from soda jerk ? Or is the unit bad ? Thanks
Title: Re: compressor unit Post by: globalcompressors on August 12, 2007, 05:35:35 pm Could be the overload, the compressor, or the thermostat.
Does the compressor humm and then "click"...over and over? Eric Title: Re: compressor unit Post by: zadd on August 12, 2007, 08:34:35 pm It's just like a car that wont start. It tries and then shakes then turns off and the it tries to cycle over and over shaking every try. I thought I would try a few thing before calling it scrap. :hopefull:
Title: Re: compressor unit Post by: zadd on August 12, 2007, 09:20:32 pm I guess I would have to say it does hum and click every time it tries to start. Kinda like if you unplug it and plug it back in within a few min.
Title: Re: compressor unit Post by: globalcompressors on August 12, 2007, 09:42:34 pm Buddy,
I usually don't recommend using a 3 in 1 start kit but in this case, I think it would help out in the diagnosis. Pull the compressor cover, remove the overload and relay. There are 3 pin terminals in a triangle top 2...left side is common, right side is start, and the 3rd on the bottom is your run terminal. You'll need this info for the start kit. Go to an appliance dealer or a Grainger supply. Tie everything up. If the unit won't start this way...it's shot! Post back Eric  Title: Re: compressor unit Post by: zadd on August 12, 2007, 10:05:39 pm Thanks for your help. I'll give it a try . It's just been laying around my shop so I thought I would tinker with it. Thanks again
