Post by: Ginger Prince on August 11, 2007, 06:29:09 pm
im sure dave will be interested in this even if he decides not to buy it

he must be out at work, [probably sat outside heathrow chatting to the climate control
protestors and advising them on the relative pros and cons of a vendo coke 81 versus a
vmc royal crown]

so any posts appreciated on what to check etc nad then he will have all his info quicker
to snap it up, [if he wnts it]

Is that a Square top 81? Looks like a mess, but would clean up.

It's one of the transitional 81's

Right I'm up and awake and onto this. Have e-mailed the seller a few questions and to get some more photos of the insides. I'm assuming that the funny looking bar where the crank handle should be is a after market replacement. These weren't converted to automatic were they??? The transitional was the same as the RT except for the body shape, is that right??

May have a bid on this. Hoping that people are put off by the mess...

This one is an electric vend model, the funny looking piece of angle iron appears to be some sort of lock-hasp or a crude anti-thieft device as it's at the correct height to protect the original locks location. the machine looks a lot like my Vendo V-81 transitional.

Tanks Johnie..

Don't suppose you have any photos handy that I can have a look at.
How difficult would it be to change to manual vend??

Converting to manual would not be too difficult....but would
certainly be cost prohibitive!   If you restore it the way it is
it will still look cool compared to most squaretop machines.

Have asked for more photos. So far the seller has not replied. Will have to wait and see.

Hi Guys

got a reply back from the seller today as well as some photos. Hhecan't get inside the machine to take pictures, so it "pot luck" as to what is inside.

Here's the pictures. So good strong advice needed. I still have a Pepsi Jacobs sitting in the garage in need of total restoration.

I am torn simply because its a multi vend machine. I know what the wife will say. Something like "Another piece of junk to take up more room."

Dave, What are they asking for it? If the price is right I would say go for it. They are really nice machines. You will really like it. It is basically an 81 with square corners.

Ok, does this machine have a bottle stack, and 9 shelves?
Replacements for an 81 are a much higher cost than a 56 or anything else.
Your Jacobs deserves a restoration, this 81 is not nearly as desireable
and the most time and money you should invest in it is for some paint. If
this is squeezing your available storage space, you may want to pass for
something better, or buy it and sell off the parts.
Or buy it, paint and re-sell on e-bay.  That's what we do!

I've started stripping the Jacobs so sort of made my mind up...

The seller can't/won't open it up so not sure what is inside.
I hear what you say about parts and I would do exactly that if it wasn't for the fact that shipping makes it so expensive and therefore not cost effective.

I'm going to hold off. See where it is at the end of the auction. If its still the same then I'll throw my hat in on or around the minimum in the hope that
its complete or almost.

Thanks Guys....

Dave
