Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: Seven181 on May 23, 2007, 06:20:03 pm I looked at it really well, looks like it never had legs?
Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: Kilroy on May 23, 2007, 06:33:26 pm Looks like an amputated Junior to me also
Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: audiobeer on May 23, 2007, 06:56:23 pm I saw that on Ebay and was bidding for the cap catcher and the lid. Flip it over and shoot a pic and we'll definitely be able to tell you.
Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: collecture on May 23, 2007, 07:18:48 pm Definately a hacked up Junior.
If it were the true half Junior, there would be handles on each side and no cap catcher. Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: Seven181 on May 23, 2007, 07:21:38 pm Yes, no handles on the side so I do not think it is a junior. Also, according to the book, it is bigger than the junior but smaller than the standard? I will take a pic of the bottom, looks like no legs were ever there? Nothing hacked off on it, just a drain and a solid bottom??
Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: MoonDawg on May 23, 2007, 07:49:37 pm These "cut-off" juniors appear a lot. They are not the work of a
bunch of drunk college kids hoping to store cold beer in their dorm. WWII involved sending Coca Cola in bottles to our troops overseas......which in turn increased morale for the young men. Sending coolers was costly, so Juniors and standards were chopped by the US Government to be stacked high for shipping. When the war ended........home came the troops and all their equipment Title: What kind of Westinghouse is this? Post by: Seven181 on May 23, 2007, 09:06:19 pm Glen,
Thanks for the history! Sounds like you are all over it! I looked and on the bottom of the cooler is the id tag, saying, Westinghouse Inc and made for Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola bottlers. |
