Title: Chrome Plating
Post by: FDNY1975 on May 22, 2007, 03:50:17 pm
I know there have been some post on here in the past regarding chrome plating but figured I would ask anyway. I contacted Speed & Sport they said min was $100.00 after I send them what I need chromed the would give me exact price. Anyone ever use them before? Also are there any questions I should be asking them, he told me the use a layer of copper then nickel then chrome.       Thanks Matt

Matt,

I think you'll get a good response from others about Speed & Sport.
It's been some time, but I was pleased with their production.

Plus when you describe parts like coin entry bezel or crank
handle shell......they know what you are talking about.

I've heard nothing but great things about S&S here in Houston.

I imagine Speed & Sport does outstanding work. This guy named Ron Satterfield down in Nashville,TN does outstanding work at a more than fair price. The way I found out about him was Steve Ebner at Funtronics. I asked him about getting some stuff chromed and he told me he had just sent some stuff off to Nashville Plating and was waiting for the return of his stuff. So I called the guy,an older gentleman and he was completely professional from the beginning. I sent him some photos of what I wanted done and he gave me an email estimate. He also had some of Curtis Kaufmann's(sp.) stuff that he had done and sent me some photos, pretty impressed. I took the chance and was very happy with the results of my stuff. Crank handles $25. Like I said before if I had not found this guy I would have sent my stuff to Speed & Sport, have also heard they do outstanding work. Turnaround time was about a week.

The one thing that I have noticed is that the price of chrome is getting more expensive in the last year.

They'll probably blame it on the cost of gas Terry  :darn:
