Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: on May 22, 2007, 02:20:38 pm Hello everyone,
Just registered and obviously new to the site, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me the value of a cavalier 27 that I just purchased? I like to get out and ride the backroads and came across this machine on a mans front porch back in the middle of nowhere. I offered him $400.00 for it and he took it. It looks great and is complete and running. Did I do good or screw up. I have never seen one like it. Thanks for the info!! Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: on May 23, 2007, 01:44:30 pm I took a couple of pictures and I will try to load them. Before judgement, you must understand that it had been sitting out on his porch in the weather for who knows how long, so that is how it got the surface rust on the lower front, but the inside looks very good with no rust. Be easy on me!!
Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: Eric on May 23, 2007, 02:11:41 pm You got a deal there! Welcome!....
Gonna restore it?.. Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: on May 23, 2007, 02:31:51 pm Yes, I plan on it, I just don't know where to start. Thanks for the "Welcome". I have been interested in soda machines for a long time and am excited that I found a place to talk to other collectors about it. It is not on my wife's top 5 topics. I am going to this rediculously huge flea market in Nashville, Tn this weekend, maybe I will find something there. I have been there several times and if you take your time and look at everything, you might get through it in a weekend. It's that big!

That is known as the ship's wheel version of the C27. Very nice find! The condition is great, Very easy restoration. The only hard part is reinstalling the evaporator unit back into the machine. These were originally held in place by the cork seal that will have to be removed in order to remove the evap. unit. Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: Seven181 on May 23, 2007, 03:40:48 pm Great job! The rookie right out of the box finds a great machine with ship's wheel!! AWESOME!! Good luck finding more.

Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: MoonDawg on May 23, 2007, 04:16:39 pm (sodaworks @ May 23 2007,1:34) QUOTE These were originally held in place by the cork seal that will have to be removed in order to remove the evap. unit. For this exact reason, and the fact that this is your first machine.....you may want to leave all the innards in tact and just remove exterior items for prep and paint. The inside looks pretty clean already. Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: collecture on May 23, 2007, 07:08:48 pm That is not a ship's wheel version, but the latter style.
The ship's wheel version is pictured in Walter's 3rd edition. The center of the crank on a ship's wheel is concave and the 3 arms looked like bats - like the captain's wheel on a old ship. Still an excellent find Corey Title: Original Working Cavalier 27 Post by: Ltransam on May 23, 2007, 09:38:42 pm Hello, Corey
