Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 15, 2007, 11:01:38 am I came across this one today. The seller will take 150 for it. It works, cools, vends, etc. Seller says its very mint, plus its only 5 feet tall. I know its nothing vintage but it will be a good soda/beer machine. What do you all think?

Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: loman4ec on May 15, 2007, 07:47:15 pm Not much compared to that. I would run away from that one. I bought one once with the same thoughts as you. They are a nightmare. If there is anything wrong with it or if anything ever goes wrong they are very complicated. And they are REALLY heavy. Just my advice.

Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 16, 2007, 06:34:47 am well I bought it and it is in mint condition. Its a dixie-narco. It is very heavy but it fits in well with the other machines. I am going to try some of those "mover men" furniture mover pads to see if it will slide on concrete. We have also been wanting a push button machine for some time.

Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: loman4ec on May 16, 2007, 08:46:07 am Yeah thats it. It is just too much electronics. It looks like it doesn't have a bill accepter on it. That is also a pain in the Rear. That machine is smaller than I thought. It is a nice looking machine
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 16, 2007, 02:32:18 pm it was a good find. It came from a yacht club in new york. The owner worked at the yacht club since the machine was placed on location. He bought it from the yacht club and took it with him when he moved to Fl. Dixie-Narco is quality stuff too. I think its from the late 80's early 90's and I am going to hold on to this one for a long time because its in like new condition.
How do I get this machine to vend for free? Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: MoonDawg on May 16, 2007, 05:07:36 pm (SquareTopCollector @ May 16 2007,12:32) QUOTE How do I get this machine to vend for free? You don't! Like Josh said, you have a lot of electronics to defeat. Completely different animal from your simple Cavalier slant shelf machines. Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 16, 2007, 10:59:05 pm I got it to vend on 10 cents. everything on the machine is in very good condition.
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: Kevin C on May 18, 2007, 04:55:38 pm Hello
I have a small (but heavy) DN-180 down at my sons apartment. Works great for a basic machine. Kevin Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 19, 2007, 09:51:19 pm holds a ton of soda too for its size. I got it to vend water bottles on the inner slots
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: johnieG on May 19, 2007, 10:24:05 pm here's a late model Vendo ( I call them "flat-faced" machines) 1990 model , I've just set it up to vend single-depth cans, 16.9 oz, or 24 oz. plastic bottles, it's only about 5'-5'' I like it's size, but you're right . these are heavy machines, took three of use to load it into the truck, I'd say about 500lbs empty. I ahd to repair a couple of cracked vending disks (controls vending timing for single or double depth columns) & modify the light-up signs housing to accept a pair of standard 24" fuorecent lamps , it had a goofy 33" size originally, so a little tin-snip work & a ballast transplant fixed 'er up
even the neighbors like it when I have the garage door up at night. casts a nice glow acroos the yard! Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: johnieG on May 19, 2007, 10:28:18 pm 3 & 4

Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 20, 2007, 01:30:07 pm I need to find a replacement part. I do not know what this piece is called but its bent out of shape and jams up.
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: johnieG on May 20, 2007, 04:05:23 pm It's sometimes called a "rocker" try www.veei.com, but I just looked at the VEEI site & their servers down
( Sunday maintenance, I guess) & try a search with your model or manufactures name. yours looks like it a double-depth can unit. I'll check at the jackpot warehouse , I'm now inthe process of parting out abunch of late-model Vendos, Cavaliers, & ChoiceVends Oh, and yes, mine willl vend glass bottles, up to 16oz. but not the stupid new little Coke bottles, they just tumble out or tip crown first & jam the stack. 12 oz Coke & Pepsi in glass vends OK, but the "Jumbo" size glass bottles like the fatboy Faygo in glass are too big in diameter. Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: vend_dr on May 20, 2007, 07:54:11 pm (SquareTopCollector @ May 16 2007,2:32) QUOTE How do I get this machine to vend for free? I can't tell from the pictures for sure but it appears to be a single price machine. So there would be nothing electronic about it other than a newer electronic coin mech. You would wire a free play just like any other single price mech. I've done it many times. Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 20, 2007, 08:54:32 pm how do you wire it for free play?
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: MoonDawg on May 20, 2007, 09:18:25 pm (SquareTopCollector @ May 20 2007,6:54) QUOTE how do you wire it for free play? Hot wire every push-button............ Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: vend_dr on May 21, 2007, 07:34:59 am There is a diagram in the troubleshooting section under the coin mechanism heading. You can use that one which uses a push button switch to set up the credit. There is also a way to use the crem line #6 and the neutral line #2 to fire a relay so you eliminate the manual push button switch but most people don't like to do this method as the relay will constantly be hot when not vending and burn out eventually. Although I always used the relay method when I was a vending operator and didn't have many problems.
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 21, 2007, 07:56:51 am got it. Thanks guys
Keep an eye out for a rocker for me Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 21, 2007, 09:34:08 pm thanks vend dr and moondawg. I got it working. I have to say I am enjoying this machine much more than my cavaliers.
I mounted the relay in the price sign area Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 21, 2007, 09:37:14 pm Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: MoonDawg on May 22, 2007, 09:41:11 am Wow.......explain to us how you wired it? Cool video too
Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on May 22, 2007, 09:46:58 am Vend Dr. told me about the diagram that JonnieG posted under the coin mech area on this forum here is the link.
http://soda-machines.com/cgi-loc....6;t=871 it cost me 5 bucks to buy wire, connectors, and the push button relay. A little solder and it works very well. I installed the button in the price window by using a glass drill bit to make a hole to fit the plug into. Now I can get rid of the jar of dimes I had on top of the machine. Title: little 80's pepsi machine on craigslist Post by: SquareTopCollector on June 07, 2007, 08:39:10 pm fround the rocker from a guy in AL. His name is Raymond and his email is tvmsc@cableone.net He has a ton of parts.
So far this machine is getting the most attention, great investment. It also keeps drinks much colder than my cavaliers do. If you ever have the chance to grab one you should. |
