Title: 37 w/h ice box Post by: on March 21, 2003, 10:43:37 pm I think I'll answer my own questions , if that's OK,,, How does this sound ?? I will gently,,sandblast,,apply a light coat of vinyl wash, apply a "dab" of Sikkens "poly" to the dime size dent on "face" ,then apply an epoxy 2 part primer (I kinda like AWLGRIP , cause , it's nice and "thick" , and if you let it dry in the sun outside for a couple of days , it's real easy to sand) but a "synthetic epoxy primer" is good too !! and sands as well,,Watersand the heck out of this , apply a few nice thin coats of primer , watersand again , and then apply the topcoats,,Sure to look better than original,,but ..that's the kinda guy that I am !!! Any dissagreements,,don't ,,be shy !!! Thanks,,,,,,B

Sorry for the delay! It sounds like you have a good idea of what needs to be done! I will warn you about sand blasting... Use very fine sand and be careful not to heat up the metal by blasting in one area too long; even if this means coming back to an area that may be a little difficult to allow for cooling. As far as paint is concerned, Sikkens is a little expensive and I've always been partial to PPG, but that's just another opinion... |
