Title: picnic cooler Post by: Ginger Prince on May 02, 2007, 07:26:55 pm hi everyone,
whilst dave is now in florida, [probably bought half a dozen or so items already] i will continue with the English Connection to this site on his behalf. there is a picnic cooler, or at least thats how its described on the german ebay site. i'm afraid i have no idea how to link, but i will try to post pix. can anyone, [silly question i know, most of you will!] give advice on date of manufacture and any other info regarding approx value. i have seen the cooler boxes before in the UK, i know dave has a rola cola version [english joke for dave to see on his return, apologies to all], his is royal crown. but have never seen one like this before. all info greatly appreciated.....now how to download, i know i have done it before.mmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe......................................................................... Title: picnic cooler Post by: aspbear1 on May 02, 2007, 07:36:28 pm That is an aluminum cooler from somewhere in the 60's I would say. These are starting to get more popular, if the inside is good I would say somewhere in the 40 to 50 dollar range. You can take steel wool to these and really make them look pretty good. this one looks better than most you might find usually the lids are mashed in where someone has set on them. You hubby would be so proud of you

book lists the size as follows; 23-1/4 inches in length, 13-1/4 inches high, and 13-1/2 inches in width, it has a capacity of 32 Coca-Cola bottles, and was produced from 1958 thru the 1960's it's book value at the time of printing (1994) was listed at U.S. $40.00 and was noted as being "semi-common" in rarity ( State-side of course) It also came in a painted steel version which is listed at twice the value of the aluminum shown. Hope this helps! Title: picnic cooler Post by: Ginger Prince on May 03, 2007, 05:13:06 am thx everyone for your prompt responses, i have emailed
him to see if he will email in english further details and also confirm that he will ship to UK. Never seen one for sale at any of the shows in England before or on ebay so although not rare stateside may well buy unless bidding goes too high. Before i bid on it are there any usual missing items/parts to look out for on these items? many thx neil Title: picnic cooler Post by: johnieG on May 03, 2007, 07:45:23 am Yes , make sure it has it's drain cap, these are very hard to find, and often missing although Funtronics does sell a replacement drain for Progress brand coolers, it may or may not fit this one, and any missing lid hold down hardware as well ( the side latches)
Note that this particular cooler did originally have a sandwich tray inside too. Title: picnic cooler Post by: aspbear1 on May 03, 2007, 05:05:56 pm It looks like the drain cap is still attached and the plastic strap is still in place. Like Johnieg said check those latches in the picture they look a little suspect at least the one on the back side of the picture.

Yep! you 've got a good eye there, looks like a piece of a key chain-ring, I'd ask for pictures of all 6 sides of this one! and the inside & under the lid too. if it's on the up & up , he'll be happy to.
