Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: Bob K on April 17, 2007, 12:00:51 pm Hi all,
So as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer (and dryer!! ) here in MA I'll paint my WC60 Multi-Drink liner and start re-assembly. As far as purchasing fibreglass insulation, is there anything specific I need to know? - paper backed? - any specific thickness? - any types to avoid? Do you guys use any adhesive material to hold the insulation in place? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: zadd on April 17, 2007, 05:56:07 pm I do it just like the factory , paper less and standard insulation .You can do a higher r rating just don't go thicker. Just my two cents

Use paperless to aid in avoiding water retention. There was a discussion some time ago that talked about using cardboard to aid in re-assembly... This is the method I used to keep the insulation from compacting during liner insertion The Cardboard Discussion is Here... Bob Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: BrianB on April 18, 2007, 08:54:44 am I also agree on using unfaced rolled insulation. I use the "Cardboard Method" as well, It works great!

Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: Bob K on April 18, 2007, 08:38:41 pm I just got back from Home Depot and I couldn't find any "non-paper" rolled insulation. Good to know the paper peels right off. Thanks Josh.

Joey Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: loman4ec on April 18, 2007, 09:08:02 pm Actually joey it is really three of your old machines. The 56 is the cabinet from a regular 56 square top you parted out and the door from the transitional that I sold you and then got back, and then the pepsi 88. I didn't relize that untill you said something. That is funny.

Joey Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: loman4ec on April 19, 2007, 06:41:45 am That is the one machine that I decided to keep. It is in a sad state of half restoration in my moms garage. I destroyed the paint moving from tenessee to Ohio. I can't wait to strip it down and redo it in RC Cola again someday.

Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: loman4ec on April 20, 2007, 09:09:21 pm Yep the coin door to a cav 55 came open and kept banging against the machine. I had it shrinkwraped but it eventually tore the shrink wraping away.
Title: Need Insulation Tips Post by: Chris on April 30, 2007, 11:23:37 am I'm currently restoring a Pepsi square top, and I was wondering if any of you had tried using foam insulation instead of fiberglass insulation. I was looking at the R values on insulation and fiberglass is 3-4 and Polyisocyanurate foam is 7-8, or is there some reason it wont work that I'm not seeing.
