Title: Ideal 35 Slider/Complete
Post by: SIGNGUY on April 06, 2007, 08:34:45 am
??? I should know this as I just sold one, but curious on what your take is about pricing on the Ideal 35 sliders. There are two on Ebay, one ended and not sold, there are few others iv'e seen listed at over 2k?
I have a shot at one in Chicago area, didn't sell, seller said to make and offer and he shared his reserve with me? it seems fair $450.00 it's complete with rack. the rack alone has gotta be worth 225-250?? and it has coin mech?
What do you guys think is a fair price for these small sliders complete? I am interested in it and will make a decision after I hear back from a few of you?
Thanks
John

A 35 at $450... solid, complete with mech, rack and catcher I would
strap it to the top of my car and bring it home..... Is it a embossed
RC? If so I would strap my mother-in -law to the top of my car and
it would ride inside where it wouldn't get hurt. :;):

It's a generic, painted up red, needs proper decals.. but could be cool. Not that I need another, but for 450 or less?? HMMM

I've been watching the prices of Ideal55 parts.  May not map directly to 35 values but.... Rack and flappers have been selling at $150 - 250.  Cap catcher ~ $50 - 75.  Coin mech ~ $100 - 150.  If you can get it for <= $400 you're pretty much guaranteed that you'd be able to recover costs.

$400 is a good price, less than that is a steal.
The 35 has always been admired more than the embossed
55 by all my customers. It takes up less of their valuable floor space.

I have 3 of these 35's but am holding off doing a restoration
for a while. The reason is.......they very closely resemble the Westinghouse Junior reproduction cooler that has flooded the country in the last year.  Anyone who wanted an antique floor
cooler has watched the price go from $1200 down to $600 for
a brand new unit.  They're all over e-bay. No warehouse cost, if someone buys on line, they drop-ship direct from manufacturer to customer.

When these first came out, I ordered 1 for display and sold 10
units in 2005.  In 2006 and so far 2007 I have sold none. The market may now be saturated so new production may cease. :hopefull:

Glen (or anyone) do you know if they can get just the lids and cap catcher for those repro juniors?..... Bet there's a market for those I wouldn't mind having a set of lids and a couple cap catchers.

Are they even made out of metal or are they fiberglass like the repro cap catchers i've seen floating around and in some catalogues?
Let's hope these dry up as fast as those crappy Vendo 44 repro machines made by Wurlitzer!  Also is there a tell tale sign on these repros to tell that they are repro's and not original machines? Just thinking even if the market dries up, these coolers will be sitting around and aging and someone may try to pass them off as old originals? how do we tell so we can round them up and put them in some huge dump pile!!! :happydrinkers:  :;):

You can tell. First the refrigerated models are dry cooled and the cooling system works like a slider. Also they are powder coated you can tell they aren't paited by looking. Also they have an odd textured shiny inside liner. They are really nice. If I wanted to have a cheep dry cooler to put out by a pool or something I would probably get one.

Josh, each one of these comes packaged in a styrofoam box and delivered Fed Ex. Total weight
is 90 lbs.
Maybe you could get one for your apartment.

Shipping to Thailand would be more than the cooler. I am shipping a package for business that is 60lbs and half the size and it is $500. Yikes! Also if I got the refrigerated version I bet there would be some customs problems.

We'll one bid at 700 for it...There still are some purists out there wanting the vintage.
the guy had the one I'm looking at on ebay for 450 and no bids. he said to make and offer.. I made an offer of 350, but I'm sure he won't go for it..
we'll see.
