Title: 80's Vendo restore
Post by: SquareTopCollector on April 02, 2007, 09:48:22 pm
I am working on a early 80's vendo. Not the typical machine to restore but I always liked this machine. I found one local for 50 bucks and it needs a new compressor. Everything else works fine and its in great condition for its age. I got a coin mech hooked up and its vending great, now its time to get it to cool. Any suggestions on where I can find a new or rebuilt compressor? Thanks

Each machine is different, depending on the model and what has to be done.  I think it cost me $400-something for him to put on a new compressor, new fan motor and blasting/painting the lower unit in my Cavalier CS80.  Just a little warning, Eric's services are in great demand so it will take a few months to get it done.  I think I sent mine out Mid-June and got it back around Labor Day.  His work also has a warranty.

its probably not worth it on this machine. It needs an entire refrigeration unit. I was hoping to find one off another machine

Hey Steve ,  It looks like a clean machine , Give a Eric a call  and get his
input, It better to get it from the MAN who does this all the time 8 day's
a week  :O  ( I know there is only 7, it was a joke   )   And if it comes down to
still not worth it , do you have a place were you can store it till a part's
one  shows up with a working compressor .

I am keeping it in my garage. Its border line vintage so I dont want to scrap it yet.  My neighbor is in the vending business and he is asking his guys if they have extra parts.  The only problem is that I have 2 other machines and one on the way

What do you all think about this machine? Not worth the time? You dont see too many around anymore and its very clean

the bulbs used to light the sign and buttons are 29" in length. Where can I find this size bulb? Homedepot only sells 24", 32" and 36"   I am going to check light bulb depot
