Title: Markito and JoeSquid
Post by: 90grad on March 27, 2007, 06:36:36 pm
All,

I was just wondering about the whereabouts of Markito and JoeSquid.  'Kito's been MIA before and I think JoeSquid (Eric) may be at sea.  Anyone have any info?

The last time I spoke with Markito was almost exactly one year ago (during my spring break).  I think Jim recently purged the inactive accounts, because he is no longer listed as a member!  I believe an email is sent out and if there is not a reply then the account is erased.  I noticed around Christmas that his ebay feedback has some recent activity, so at least he's alive!

I just searched some more and JoeSquid last logged in on March 16, 2007 (hasn't posted anything since July 06), and Markito's posts have reverted to Guest.

Marks wife also hated soda machines with a passion. I think she probably put her foot down.

I do prune the database every year just to keep things a little tidy and this was recently done; so, as Dr.G stated, if a member didn't respond to the email message sent via our system, the member would be removed. I generally query by "no activity" for the last 200 days. This wouldn't eliminate someone that has visited recently but didn't post...

I'm surprised Markito doesn't just drop in to say hello.  He was quite the character around here for a while.  :happydrinkers:

Maybe Markito's wife found the machines that he was hiding in the (small) garage!  ???

I emailed Mark on his birthday to check out the b-day thread and never heard back as well.

Hi guys!  Yeah, Wayne was right, I've been "out and about" for Uncle Sam.  Sea duty has really put a crimp in my restorations, etc.  and I'll be going out again in the near future.  The light is shining at the end of the tunnel and I'll be retiring in about another year.  Strangely enough, I got back in port in time to go to bike week in Daytona and struck a conversation with Henry Schwichtenburg, one of Harley Davidson's master mechanics.  He also has an interest in coke machines and has a Cornelius compact 50 in need of a rack and coin unit.  He lives about 25 minutes from my father-in-law, so I took some leave (to visit dear old dad) and check out Henry's machine.  Nothing special about it but I'm trying to find him the rack and coin unit to get him functional again.

Amazing how these things develop isn't it?

Anyway, I'm still around and looking very forward to retirement and moving to a house with a fully functional WORK SHOP to get my machines restored (and collect more)!!  :;):

Eric
