Title: Phone Booth Value
Post by: collecture on March 20, 2007, 12:13:51 am
Anybody have a value estimate for this old phone booth?
I thought it might be cool for the gameroom if the price was right.

Tom,

I have a Phone Booth for sale if you interested. It is 1952 Western. It is disassembled right now ! So shipping would be easy.

Tom,
the booth is more recent than vintage, and retails for about 600 -  $700.00.

Dan - It looks like a chest cooler or maybe an incomplete V23.
This is the same local auction house that had the barber poles I got a while back.
The auction is not until the end of the month, so all pics are not loaded yet.
Last month, they had several Coke things including a pretty nice original V39.
I couldn't make it then though. I hope I can make it this month though.

Tom...
I'd pass that's a “shelf looks like a booth” unit....
Save for the real thing... Check out what Matt has......
Sounds cool .. then you'll need a Superman costume to hang in it :;):

Good observation Dan,  you're a REAL bird-dog.
It's that constant "looking for the red" mentality
that finds treasures in junk piles. So what if everyone
else thinks we're nuts  :D

Thanks everyone for the responses.
Matt,
I really like the look of this booth with the wood and windows.
Is yours similar? Can you post or PM me a picture?

Matt,
Can you find a similar pic?
Does it look like either one of these?

The insides are the same on the 2nd picture. The name plate on either picture is a air vent on mine were it says Telephone.  No phone either. Interested?

I think I'll hold off a bit Matt.
Thanks anyway!
Didn't some of these booths have a light up "TELEPHONE" marquee?
That's what I'd like!

I think the version Matt has also has a switch to turn on a light/fan combination when the door is closed...

Eric,
That is hilariuos.. I laughed out loud in the office and people wanted to know what's so funny.. I had to explain that they just wouldn't understand!
Ha
Good luck on the phone booth Tom,,, I'm sure you'll find something eventually.

Tom,
The wooden Western Electric booths came with air vents that were cast, and prone to breaking easily. No one is repopping the louvers, so you'll see  lights or plates installed to hide the opening at least cover it.

I may be wrong, but I think it wasn't until the glass and metal booths started getting popular that the marquis was lit topside.

Not a bad price if local. Shipping these babies is what kills you!

Thanks Terry, but that one doesn't do much for me.
The wife may shoot the booth idea down anyway,
but wanted to have a picture of one I like.

Mystery solved!
The auction house finally loaded all the pics!
Value anybody?
Problems with them that I could look for?
