Title: Need A value Post by: Pat Pixley on February 26, 2007, 08:57:13 pm Ok this was brought to my attention today by one of
my client's, I never saw the deck on the back of his home ( this was planed by the gal's at my office and my client) there was a Vendo 80 sitting back there. He said it is for sale and he know what the price is going for a restored one this one is not restored, But it is in good shape. now he said we can talk about it this spring with a ice cold one. Now I dont do many round tops so I need some help on this I will drop a photo tomorrow (the best one I have) Now he said it ran and got cold , But he could not get it open because it was frozen shut so I don't know much about the inside if is there or not. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks Pat Title: Need A value Post by: Creighton on February 26, 2007, 09:07:23 pm Hey Pat,
I wouldn't pay much for one. Big and would be hard to sell. Just me... Creighton Title: Need A value Post by: loman4ec on February 26, 2007, 09:12:56 pm Big??? Its the same cabnet as an 81. I personally like the 80's they don't sell for as much as an 81 but they do sell pretty easy. I would say is it is complete somewhere in the $450 to $600 range is fair.
Title: Need A value Post by: SIGNGUY on February 26, 2007, 09:30:02 pm I wouldn't buy the line that it's frozen shut... rarely have I experience a cooler Freezing shut, if so, unplug it for a few days and should pop open. I bet the door lock mechanism is just bent or maybe broken? I like the 80s' if they have the stainless steel on them... outside of that .. id say thd 500 range is about right?
Title: Need A value Post by: coke_and_stuff on February 26, 2007, 09:31:40 pm Same exact size of a 81, same exact cabinet as an 81. Ive built two 81s out of 80 cabinets. I paid $400.00 for oe and $450.00 for the other.
Joey Title: Need A value Post by: Pat Pixley on February 26, 2007, 10:04:48 pm No the door was really frozen shut! I was there
and it was not opening , It set's right under the over hang. Plus remember I do live in Michigan were thing freeze this time of year. I'll have the photo up tomorrow and like I said it the the best photo , But it's a photo. Oh yeah sorry no stainless on it It is white with red or is that red and white what ever Pat Title: Need A value Post by: collecture on February 26, 2007, 10:39:52 pm If it is red/white or vise versa, then it is not an original paint job.
Unless it is missing the stainless steel front. V80's were all red until the red/white SS version. Early versions also had small embossing (kind of like the V81A). Below is a pic of my V80. Title: Need A value Post by: Pat Pixley on February 26, 2007, 10:59:01 pm Hey Tom Very cool V80 I do like the Stainless
on those. But the one I saw looks just like the one in Jeff's Walters Book Vol #1 page 76 White top stainless trim band then all red. But I would perfer yours, More stainless steel is always better. Pat Title: Need A value Post by: collecture on February 27, 2007, 12:16:28 am I do not own Jeff's Vol. 1.
I was getting my info from Vol. 3 in which he says: The first year was all red with smaller embossing. The following year they got larger embossing and a SS band across the front door. He says nothing about an in-between. You would think the 3rd edition would be more accurate than the 1st edition. I've talked to some people about things in his book and they say he was just pulling facts out of thin air and guessing at some stuff. Maybe there is an A, B, & C model V80? I'll have to see if I can get a peek at my ID tag and see if it says V80C.
