Title: Parts to be chromed? Post by: coke_and_stuff on February 05, 2007, 08:56:40 pm Make sure all parts are taken apart,
Coin bezel, press down handle shell, The other parts ike the bottle door handle etc can all be bougt new. Joey Title: Parts to be chromed? Post by: collecture on February 05, 2007, 09:55:23 pm There was a post just recently about the "Press Down" handle.
I agree with Glen and Terry that it was originally highly polished aluminum, which tarnished after just a few months. Has anybody ever polished one up and clearcoated it like Glen suggested? I think it would look just as sharp. You could send it in with the trim along with that extra request. Title: Parts to be chromed? Post by: TheGarbageHunter on February 05, 2007, 09:55:59 pm I had the press down handle, coin entry bezel, coin return handle chromed. All stainless steel parts I had polished.

Title: Parts to be chromed? Post by: USMC Vet on February 06, 2007, 05:28:36 pm Thanks for the replies ! How is the best way to polish the crank handle ? Would a dremel with a polishing bit work or would it be better to get a polishing wheel for my grinder like I have seen at some gun shows ? Thanks !
Title: Parts to be chromed? Post by: Jim on February 06, 2007, 06:28:18 pm Here's a nice tip for those of you that have acquired gas pumps in recent years...
If you have one that still has the pump/motor assembly, you'll find the electric motor is one of the best grinding/polishing wheels you can purchase! 1725rpm and you couldn't stop these motors to save you're life! Regarding the chroming of the crank handles, my experiences have lead me to chrome plate them. They do polish up nice and when clear-coated, look exceptional, but chrome still holds up better over time... Title: Parts to be chromed? If you plan on doing your own polishing go to www.eastwood.com and buy yourself a polishing kit. It will come with a set of 3 compounds as well as 3 different pads. These range from cut to polish.
