Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: BrianB on January 25, 2007, 11:15:10 am With the help of my pal MCarter, I came about the newest addition to my coin-op family, a Popcorn popper/vendor known as the "Popperette".
After teaming with Matt to restore his U-Pop-It, I was definitely bit by the popcorn machine bug! I'd been looking for a U-Pop-It or a Minit Pop with no success. Matt hooked me up with a guy who just happened to have a Popperette and the rest is history. After unpacking and assembling the machine, I was very surprised to find all of the original operating/shipping tags were still present and that the machine was in great shape! All I really had to do to make it ready to go was to replace the power cord. I plugged her in and bypassed the seasoning oil float sensor and was greeted with light coming from the marquee sign! I then decided to try out the coin mech/coin switch to see if the machine would run through a cycle and it did! Here are some pictures: Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: halehouse on January 25, 2007, 11:45:29 am Now that is COOL and what I need for my home theater! Doesn't take up a lot of space.

Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: collecture on January 25, 2007, 10:27:15 pm Looking at your pics, it is like I was a fly on the wall as you first received it.
It is on the table in the foyer and you are checking it out all around and then... it is out to the workbench to really check it out. Was there much grease (butter) buildup inside? How easy is it to clean? Give us more pics inside! Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: cvb141 on January 25, 2007, 10:45:26 pm That's way Cool!

Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: BrianB on January 26, 2007, 08:23:26 am Tom -
The interior of the machine has a light coating of oil on it, and has some heavier build-up in the corners. Overall, fairly clean. The vend/cycle counter show only 210 vends/cycles. Here are some pics of the inside: Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: collecture on January 26, 2007, 08:39:12 am Wow...that is clean - I guess the profits were good!
210 vends?....that's nothing! Looks like it uses a regular old slider rejector. You could switch that out easily to make it a nickel or dime. How much does it cost? I don't see cost anywhere on it. Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: davethebirdman on January 26, 2007, 09:10:51 am That is truely a lovely machine but I was wondering what era is it from??
Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: MoonDawg on January 26, 2007, 12:31:47 pm This is so cool, I would also like to have one.
Ok, just how does this work? There must be a hotplate and a butter reservoir somewhere? Drop in a coin, a few kernels of corn are dropped onto the hotplate, when popped do they get sprayed with butter then accumulate behind the plexiglass window? Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: dr galaga on January 27, 2007, 12:33:08 pm Very cool.
So how well does it pop? Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: Yarochrehc on January 27, 2007, 03:24:44 pm That's cool! How do people find these things?
Just the right size of machine. Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: BrianB on January 29, 2007, 07:24:48 am Tom - The machine was originally designed to vend off of a dime.
Dave - This machine dates back to the early 50's. Glen - Pretty close, after the corn falls into the hopper, it actually gets partially, just a tad bit, submerged into the cooking oil. As the cam rotates around the hopper lifts out of the oil and then almost gets "spit out" with a little bit of force into the drop chute to go into a bag. It actually gets all of it flavor from the cokking oil, which ever kind you decide to use. Normally it would use a Coconut Oil seasoning blend but is super unhealthy. The guy that I got the machine from did some research and found that Macadamia Nut Oil works great and tastes good too. It has a very high smoke point which makes it reall nice for cooking/popcorn machines. The only real drawback is the price. It costs about $50 for a gallon!! Title: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: SIGNGUY on January 29, 2007, 09:28:44 am Great Machine, How big is it overall? I love the tag on the inside that says" Remember, Profits are Lean when the machine is not clean"... wish they would have posted that inside the v81 I"m working on now... it's a mess inside!
Send us each a few kernals of corn se we can have a little sample. Title: Re: Popperette Popcorn Machine Post by: nopepsi on June 23, 2008, 06:04:03 pm is it for sale
