Title: Anybody Got an extra $120,000 that I can borrow?
Post by: SIGNGUY on January 11, 2007, 11:23:18 pm
Sign CollectionI've been talking with this guy for a few months about an unbelievable Coca-Cola and other brand advertising sign collection he is selling. he may have contacted some of you?? not sure.  83 total pieces of top notch examples of vintage Coke Signs, 7up signs and some vernors,Mt. Dew, etc. 64 Coke and 19 others. Everything is quite rare and in excellent New Old Stock Condition. Only one Machine, Vendo 81b in original condition... He wants to sell whole collection for $138,000 but will sell to me or group of investors that I can put together for 129k or just the Coke stuff for $119k.  I'll be writing the check tomorrow!!! and then I'll wake up from the dream.  There are some real nice peices and I could come up with about 5k for some stuff... so if anyone else can pick up the 114k.. let me know.. he did tell me tonite that he would break up the collection but you must pick out a minimum of 5 items and tell him your offer... On average each item must bring at least 1500 for him to consider it... some more, some less... i haven't priced it out completely yet as his prices are high, but again these peices are outstanding condition. enjoy! http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/ccola1959

I would love one of those 7up thermometers

it would really compliment my clock but wouldn't want to pay $1500 for it.

Some of the lighted signs are really cool too .

$120,000 for 64 pieces is really $1875. ea. Should
be easy enough to find most of this stuff in Petretti's
guide. My guess is average price would be under $1000.

He is shooting for the moon,,, but it's hard to average price these items as some are worth as little as 450.00 and some would bring upwards of 5k at the right auction. Some of the signs near the end are paper thin Embossed metal signs that are incredible fragile and from the 30's -40's the paint would flake right off if ever bent even slightly... those would bring big money at the right auction. the Gas Today should demand high prices as well.  All of it is very nice, and not for the everyday collector... Most of it is only sought after by HIGH END collectors who can afford the BIG Dollars.
not in the cards unless the Lottery numbers are right tonight... he'll be the 2nd call I make after calling the boss and telling him I quit!!!!
