Title: HELP! Post by: 90grad on December 20, 2006, 06:26:07 am All,
I saw this on Craigslist and it's near my house. The guy said he'll take $40 for it. Is that good, bad, ugly? I have no clue on cooler prices. I have to tell him something today. Thanks! Title: HELP! Post by: halehouse on December 20, 2006, 06:31:36 am I say $40 is a good price.
Title: HELP! Post by: 90grad on December 20, 2006, 06:45:03 am Okay, I told the people I would buy it. I just have to work out the details of picking it up. This is cool, as I've only seen one of these types of coolers in person. That was a Coke model in an antique store with a $135 price tag on it. I thought that was a little high. This one will look good on top of the 7-Up machine (naturally, with felt under it Markito )
Title: HELP! Post by: BrianB on December 20, 2006, 08:13:38 am If it's rust free and has the sandwich tray as well, I'd say $40 isn't bad.
Keep in mind that 7up coolers bring signifigantly less than Coca-Cola coolers and a Coke cooler in that condition would probably bring around $75-$100. The one awesome thing is that you aren't having to pay the requisite $25-$35 for shipping that you would have been charged is you had of gotten this off of Ebay! Title: HELP! Post by: davethebirdman on December 20, 2006, 08:14:45 am Well done... I would have definately grabbed that if it was near me.
I turned a 7UP one down a few months back at $180 and still kick myself. Another early Santa Surprise. Dave Title: HELP! Post by: aspbear1 on December 20, 2006, 09:41:34 am Great buy, I would have paid that for it....
I have redone a few of these and got 100 to 125 Title: HELP! Post by: Eric on December 20, 2006, 10:28:30 am $40? grab it! Looks clean! and it's all there... lots of time the tray is missing.
the little dents in the lid can be pulled/push out pretty easy.... by pulling up on the handle with it between you feet or removing the handle and getting some make shift āLā shaped, thin pry bar through the screw holes. Title: HELP! Post by: MoonDawg on December 20, 2006, 11:33:57 am Picnic coolers should always be inspected on the bottom for rust through. This one looks to be better than average shape.
Title: HELP! Post by: TheGarbageHunter on December 20, 2006, 11:41:59 am No rust, embossed, 40.00 is a great buy.
Title: HELP! Post by: sodaworks on December 20, 2006, 12:18:07 pm I agree.
Title: HELP! Post by: MoonDawg on December 20, 2006, 01:32:50 pm The sandwich tray alone is worth $40.00
Title: HELP! Post by: Pat Pixley on December 20, 2006, 07:56:17 pm I have two of those 7 Up picnic coolers
and I wish I did have the sandwish tray's for those . Well Great find and one in that good of shape. Pat Title: HELP! Post by: cvb141 on December 20, 2006, 10:21:29 pm You can go out to eat and blow $40 easy. It should be worth that.
Jerry Title: HELP! Post by: davet426 on December 20, 2006, 11:02:51 pm This model was produced in the late 40's to 50's. This is the most common of 7 up coolers, and in average condition would probably sell for around $50.00. I think you have made a wise choice to purchase.
