Title: Contacting Josh
Post by: 90grad on December 18, 2006, 07:10:45 am
Although it would be nice to keep this as a bit of a surprise, I know Josh is checking the board when he can.  Anyway, there is a way to send him an e-Card at the hospital.  Go to their website, www.bumrungrad.com and look toward the bottom of the screen.  There is a link to send a patient a card (it's marked Greeting Card).  Josh's name is Josh Loman.  Then, they print out the card and deliver it.  Too bad, there isn't one with an 81 on it!

(Edit: Fixed the 1st link)

Marsha,

Josh was hit by a car and his hip was shattered in 15 places.  He is confined to a hospital bed for 30 days and then for another 30 days at home.  He started a thread entitled "It's been a bad week" (or something like that).

What a suprise!!! Yesterday a nurse came in with a hand full of cards from my friends here. Thank you all so much. You have no idea how happy that made me. This is such an amazing site. I feel like everyone here is family. That is just so nice.

Here is an update on my condition. I am feeling much better. each day the pain gets less and less. I am able to sit up a little more so it is easier to type. I am able to move my leg a little so that is a good sign. I saw my xrays for the first time today. They weren't able to get it 100% but they say it shouldn't stop me from walking but I will probably have arthritis problems in the future and I might have to have the hip replaced sometime later in life. But I won't worry about that for now. I am just happy that I will be able to walk again. I met the driver of the van yesterday. He was so suprised that we were shaking his hand and thanking him for taking me to the hospital. I think he was expecting us to be mad at him. He speaks some english and he ended up staying for a while hanging out watching tv. I honestly think I am alive due to his honesty and kindness. Most people here would have just driven off and left me. He picked me up and took me to the hospital. I didn't know this untill last night but he actually stayed in the waiting room at the hospital most of the night to make sure I was alright.

Again thank you all for everything. You all are the best friends anyone could have.

That's pretty neat. Hope you got the card, my internet crashed but I think I already sent it. I was gonna send another, but thought that be kinda weird if you got both :;):

Glad to hear your heal'n up, but it can't be all bad if the nurses look like the one on the cover of newsweek @ their website :D

Merry Christmas!!! Last night we had a party here in the hospital room. Luckily I am in a suite so they basically let us do what we want. Several of my Thai friends and co workers were here. Wow can they drink. They went through 5 bottles of wine and a few bottles of scotch. A few of them spent most of the evening praying to the porcelain god. It was alot of fun. Now my Dad and his girlfriend are at my condo making a Christmas dinner to bring here tonight. So we are going to spend the evening eating and drinking and watching DVD's. Luckily I am off of antibiotics so i can drink some alcohol. It just makes the pain meds more fun  :D  Well I just wanted to wish eveyone a merry Christmas and thank you all again for your support.

Looks like you are making the best of what you have Josh. Well done.
Have a great Christmas in a faraway land. Make the most of it because one day years from now when you have kids around your feet and christmas paper from one end of the house to the other not to mention surviving on three hours sleep, you can look back on this day and smile.

"View life by smiles, not by tears and age by great moments not by years."

Have a great christmas matey and next year, well that's  gonna be your year.

Dave
