Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 06, 2006, 05:15:15 pm He is on a back road to one of my customers, I caught a glimpse in the night and had to go back by the next morning. WOW! I'd like to make him an offer on the whole lot. The guy was closed. I did get his number though.
What would you guys throw out there for an offer? I know absolutley nothing about gas pumps other than I like the ones I saw here. Any idea on the year of this one or would it be worth restoring? 4 square tops (one square top behind the white car hood) 3 chests (the third is buried but you can see the edge of in the pick with white car hood, it actually sits next to the other two.) 1 gas pump 1 Phone booth I am thinking about the phone booth too! It would be cool redone! I'll try and throw an "On the road travel log" in the topic title with pics for you guys. I travel Tennessee, N.C., S.C., Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississppi and lower Indiana weekly. If I run across things I'll take pics and post them under "travel log" so if anybody is interested. If I don't go for these, I'll open them up. If I do get'em I'll be done buying for quite some time and will just post. Addition - it may be four chest is that two next to the door with chicken wire in front of it, one turned sideways? Thanks Title: On the road travel log Post by: Eric on December 06, 2006, 06:10:16 pm Hey that map stand is cool too!
That's a Tokheim 39 model gas pump a very good model from the late 40s early 50s I'd say around $350 for it the machines I don't know enough about square tops..... That is just a large cooler by the chicken wire... All good stuff.... great find..... Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 06, 2006, 06:19:00 pm Are all 3 of them just coolers?
Title: On the road travel log Post by: Creighton on December 06, 2006, 06:51:47 pm Great find!! The ST's are a Vendo 56 solid door, Cav CSS and large Vendo. Behind the hood looks like a Cav USS. I think there may be 4 coolers. The fourth being in front of the mini van. I'd be curious to know who made the van. What is the blue thing in front of the white hood? The bike in foreground is cool. Tele booth is nice. I'd snag the fireplug as well. Good luck!!
Thanks again!! Creighton Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 06, 2006, 07:00:05 pm I believe it is a blue hood and car door.

Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 07, 2006, 06:41:31 pm You can't take it if I alreay purchased LOL! . No info, I wrote the number on a USA today paper in my buddies car, was going to call today and I drove my car. The paper is resting comfortably in the trash at his house, waiting for our return tomorrow from Princeton, Indiana. I will call tomorrow. I may take a drive down Sunday after a discussion with him and see what he has. I will take plenty of pics and post all that I have not seen yet. Maybe with a few of us we can make an offer on everything wanted. I'lll let you know tomorrow afternoon.
If the auction is in Southern Indiana (no I do not know where all coke plants are, sorry) let me know, might have to make another trip to Toyota... You know business Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 09, 2006, 07:13:23 pm No info yet. He is suppose to be around tomorrow.

Title: On the road travel log Post by: davet426 on December 11, 2006, 07:48:56 pm YOu can also use Microsoft power toys "image resizer". If you don't already have it, it's pretty cool. It will allow you to reduce images quickly and you can do a whole directory at one time. Click advanced if you want overwrite the image, if not it will save it as a copy and rename with "copy" at the end of the filename. It's the fasest way I've found to resize one to many. It also is in your "right" click menu when you click on an image file. Here is a link:
scroll down to image resizer They have quite few cool (free) programs in there. I'll take a copy if you get em out. dpt33@msn.com Thanks Title: On the road travel log Post by: MCarter on December 11, 2006, 08:41:52 pm Having problems try again tuesday on server.

Title: On the road travel log Post by: Eric on December 14, 2006, 04:18:18 pm Man it's gonna be a mad rush to Indiana!...
Wish I could be there! Wanna hear/see what you get! Don't forget the Quikold! Title: On the road travel log Post by: Ltransam on December 14, 2006, 05:53:44 pm Hi ,Matt
Did'nt mean to scare you lol .This is great .Is it first come first serve ?You said it;s a Garage sale .Are they Maked ?? I just today got my Chrismas Bonus $$ I guess From Cincinnati it's 2 hour drive ? I'm probley going to be there (I hope ) .. Got to go to the bank & get more $$$$$ : Sorry lost it for a second Ltransam Title: On the road travel log Post by: SIGNGUY on December 14, 2006, 09:47:23 pm I can't imagine the rush and mess it will be if it's truley a Garage sale type of sale... unless it will be held like an estate auction with people lining up to get numbers and only a few enter at a time... if that's the case... I'd line up the night before so you can get at the deals... Good luck! Why is the Name Clint Cosner Sound familiar... I'm assuming he is the seller?
Title: On the road travel log Post by: Eric on December 15, 2006, 08:17:12 am The more I think of it... Isn't it amazing that stuff that old is still sitting in
homes across this country... I mean come on, some of that stuff dates to the 1930s!!! How old are these people?.... Some of that stuff belongs in a museum.... Being in advertising I'm impressed on the length Coca-Cola went to in the design of just give-a-ways... The detail... In the performance awards... If I had the opportunity to go to this sale I think I'd go for the bottle looking award and the wide photo of the bottlers. I can't even imagine how crazy that's gonna be. It's a shame the owners didn't know of Gary Metz's auctions... there is a lot of little stuff there that would be prized by collectors.... Matt and whoever else has the chance to go best of luck! You are getting a chance of a life time (in the soda collectors world) of getting some great smalls for the your collection! Title: On the road travel log Post by: sodaworks on December 15, 2006, 12:10:02 pm Nice stuff... Someone please post prices of what some of this stuff went for.

Title: On the road travel log Post by: SIGNGUY on December 17, 2006, 10:46:28 am That sucks... the guy should have just ebayed it all? Typically Collector thought... "Gee it's old and says Coca-Cola on it, must be worth a fortune in any condition!"
If I would have driven more than an hour, I would have been quite P*^#%d off as well! No machines or big items?? Title: On the road travel log Post by: BrianB on December 18, 2006, 07:56:37 am Ebay would have been a better place for them to get rid of that stuff. A lot of very nice stuff but the vast majority was WAY overpriced.
The lady that sold/auctioned the stuff is one of 5 daughters of the former/last owner of the Linton, IN Coca-Cola Bottling plant. All of his stuff was divided up between the daughters and this particular one decided to sell her share. Pettreti's and Ebay were their two main sources for pricing information. I ended up picking up a 50's Coca-Cola Ashtray, a Shopping Cart 2 bottle holder a couple of keychains and a Coca-Cola Fishtail menuboard that was used at the bottling plant. It was great to get a chance to meet another SMC'er! Thanks for the breakfast Leonard! Title: On the road travel log Post by: BrianB on December 18, 2006, 08:02:34 am Here's a picture of the menuboard. Not perfect, has a small notch out of the upper left hand side and has a few scratches but definitely displays well.
Title: On the road travel log Post by: sodaworks on December 19, 2006, 12:16:59 am I have a few menu boards but not that one. I like it.
