I got the photos also. I got the same price response, so I made an offer (not a great one, but reasonable as I have shipping to think of). He said he would be in touch - we'll see?  :hopefull:

The only thing the seller said to me was that it runs real quiet. The machine appears complete (but I do know for certain) and does not appear to have been molested in any way. My bet is that it does, but would not be a bad idea to confirm

He lives about 3.5 hours from, so I'm not driving down there unless i know I will be taking it back... so as not to get into a bidding war with any of us,and running up the price on each other. Maybe we should PM each other with our bid as to keep it private???

Well, I've agreed on a price with the seller. I will be sending out payment soon.
Upon Steve Ebner's recommendation, I am planning to have it shipped directly to Jim Still of www.classicmalt.com in Minneapolis, MN which is not far from where it is at now. He will be doing a complete ground up grade 1 restoration on it, so I won't actually see it until later next year (hopefully - I have no idea of his lead time).
We are having an expansion done to our house and everything is everywhere around here (not that I would find room for it, but...).
I'll be sure to post pics, when I see it.  :D

Congrats Tom, hope it all works out... Jim and his company Northland jukebox (www.northlandjukebox.com) do a great job... they did 3 paint jobs for me in the past plus some compressor work for a reasonable rate.

Pictures when you get it done... are you gonna add a bar top to it??

Post by: collecture on December 08, 2006, 06:15:30 pm
I am paying the seller $1900, which is $300 under average condition value according to Walter's 3rd. I initially offered him $1550 and he countered saying he had to get $1900. I would certainly have liked $1550 better, but am comfortable with $1900. Steve Ebner said that $2500 has been the going rate, but (as we all know) the market is soft right now.

It will most definately be a centerpiece in my collection for years to come! :D

The E-bay deal seemed like it wouldn't work to me, so I was watching this because it was obviously (from the post) an item many of you wanted.

One guy made the deal... No apparent hard feelings... Everybody congratulated him...

I was impressed.

Just goes to show that communication is key.. I PM'd Tom many times about this cooler as it was close to me... but told him my offer he told me his which was closer to the sellers "Want" and I backed off... It's the great thing about working with Collectors and overall great people on this site!..

My friend Garry got it. I had no time to restore it
so he sent his unemployed brother-in-law over to my
shop and I guided him through getting it ready for
paint.   Several folks here gave help as to finish the paint vs wood look.
Brother-in-law used to paint houses so he insisted
he would try spraying a woodgrain finish on the Icy-o with an airbrush. He sprayed one side and it turned out
terrible. This was last December...........Garry is still waiting for him to complete it  :D  ( promised it would
be ready for the Coke convention in Nashville in July)

Congrats Tom. It looks great. Plse excuse my ignorance but does the machine vend??

As for the no hard feelings bit I don't think anyone would begrudge Tom anything.

Rare it might be but good friends are harder to find.

Glen,
Gary should have used my buddy Tom Y., Tom's wood grain work on on the dash of that streetrod was second to none. He would be hard pressed to get Tom now that he is over booked with custom cars. Tom built and painted a custom willy's that was valued at over 250,000 bucks.

Yeah cormy - I got the one this thread is about for $1900 plus shipping.
The one on eBay still has 5+ days left and it is at $2800+
I believe mine is complete.
The one on eBay is missing two parts compared to mine,
but it looks to be in better shape (paint wise).
I don't know if mine cools yet either.
I have a working compressor assembly from a late model V39.
The Victor uses the exact same compressor, so I could swap out if need be.

Did you ever get this little cooler back yet? photos?
let us know...

Title: Re: Victor C14
Post by: collecture on September 26, 2008, 11:42:55 am
Yeah I got it shipped to me early last year and it is on my back porch. I messed with it a little last summer and found that it does not cool - it will get to 70 degrees in 110 degree heat. It is complete though and the body and chrome are solid and straight.
I was surprised at how heavy the 'little' cooler is too!
I'll try to snap a few updated pics - all I have are photos from the seller.
