Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 01, 2006, 07:51:36 pm I had a Mars TRC-6200 coin mech in my Vendo 63. I put this in my Cavalier CS-80C and the mech acts dead. It returns anything you deposit and if you flip the swithes to empty the coin tubes, nothing happens.
The Cav. originally had a Coinco S75-9800B in it. This works fine in both machines. No, putting the Coinco in the Cavalier is not an option since I need to put it in the Vendo. The Vendo is going to the employee break room where my wife works and the Mars only accepts nickels and dimes! Any idea why the Mars will work in the Vendo, but not the Cavalier? Anyone have a Coinco S75-9800B they want to get rid of? Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 03, 2006, 10:58:59 pm Anyone?

I see you have found a replacement, but as to your question. The only reason I think it could be is there is a slight difference in the wiring (maybe a 3-wire connection as opposed to a 2-wire connection) or a different model switch or solenoid. Maybe a pin on the plug is wired in one and not the other. I am by no means an electrical Einstein, but it is two different manufacturers - times two! Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: vend_dr on December 06, 2006, 09:26:34 pm Does the mars that doesn't work have 2 sets of dip switches? If it has the extra set of switches you may want to try sliding #6 to the other position. Does it have a larger switch labled Cigarette one way and Standard the other? if it is in the Cigarette position try changing to the standard or vice versa.
Some early single price mars mechs had these switchs so they would work in machines with a vend relay. It's been awhile since I have worked on these mechs so I don't remember what models had these switches. Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 06, 2006, 10:20:55 pm I can only see 2 sets of DIP switches. One set for pricing and the other for exact change.
Are these the ones that you can program different coins? It would be great if I could get this thing to take quarters. Someone even wrote Nickel and Dime Only in marker on the side. The date stamped on this is 1994. Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: vend_dr on December 07, 2006, 08:42:33 am Ok I misunderstood your problem. The mech should take quarters if it isn't it will need to be tuned. From the looks of it that mech was built without the ability to payout quarters I don't see the switch for it on the front.
I believe you need a computer program to tune a mars unlike the electronic coinco mechs where you put a jumper on then run 16 of each coin through it. I will see if I can verify this. I do have 50 or so single price Coinco and Mars coin mechs that I will let go for $25 postage paid each. If you are interested email me. Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 07, 2006, 09:06:52 am Oh no, you didn't misunderstand my original question. My thought was, if I could get it to accept quarters I would put it back in the Vendo. I did notice a spot next to the smaller, lower dip switches where a jumper could be placed. Do you have more info on programming?
Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: vend_dr on December 08, 2006, 07:48:51 pm Ok here are the instructions for tuning a TRC6200 and a few other Mars coin mechs. I got these from a guy I know that has his own vending machine coin mech/board repair company.
Mars 6200 Tuning for US coins only w/dollar coin acceptance Power off machine Place jumper on the 2 pins Turn Power on Remove jumper Insert (Through top of coin mech) 2 nickels then 2 dimes then 2 quarters then 2 Dollar coins Hit Coin Return 1 time Then insert (Through top of coin mech) 16 nickels 16 dimes 16 quarters 16 dollars Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: vend_dr on December 08, 2006, 07:51:49 pm Here is a version if you don't want to accept dollar coins.
Mars 6200 tuning for US coins without dollar coin acceptance Power off machine Place jumper on 2 pins Turn Power on Remove jumper Insert (Through top of coin mech) 2 nickels then 2 dimes then 2 quarters Hit coin return 2 times Then insert (Through top of coin mech) 16 nickels then 16 dimes then 16 quarters Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: vend_dr on December 08, 2006, 07:53:07 pm One thing be sure to use 16 different coins for each one so that you program a nice range of coins. Good Luck
Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 08, 2006, 11:19:13 pm Great. I'll have to find something to use as a jumper and then I'll give it a try!
Title: Coin mech works in one machine but not another Post by: dr galaga on December 09, 2006, 12:50:16 pm I found a PC board connector that I can make a jumper with. One of the switches by the jumper is puzzling me. It says "DATA GUARD". What is switch for?
