Creighton Title: Finds of the week Post by: coke_and_stuff on November 28, 2006, 08:37:43 pm Nope no estate sales just pure luck! Heres the story I caught wind of a 1957 Cadillac from a friend he said it was sitting in the woods and has been there 20+ years. He gave me the owners number and just said to call as it is for sale and reasonable. I call the owner and he says I stuck it on ebay but your more than welcome to come by and take a look. So on a Tuesday evening I drive the 2 hrs to take a look by the time I get there its almost dark. We walk up into the woods and resting with about no joke 100 cars it sits, I do the usual walk around its covered in leaves acorns and as well full of them. I figured at the price even if its a parts car I cant lose. So I go home and go to work. The next morning the car ends I sit up and wait threw my bid in and stole it at just over $500.00. He also had the old ESSO sign and i bought it as well off ebay the following day for $300.00. I called him up told him i would be there over the weekend to pick it up he says no problem its yours. I asked if he had any old soda machines and thats where I got the Vendorlator from for $50.00.
Friday rolls around while at work I get about half a dozen phone calls from friends and family asking me if I had seen the ad for the two "upright" machines a coke and a RC. I call the owner he said they are both embossed and both upright. he said he has a few people coming to look at them at 10:00AM Sat morning he said anytime after 8:00AM would be fine with him so 8:00AM I was there and just my luck not uprights but chests he originally wanted $750.00 for the coke and $450.00 for the RC. I looked them over well and threw down my offer he refused and then called about an hr later to come and get em. Im also working on getting a old gas pump, 6ft porcelain texaco sign with pole, a porcelain quaker state sign and a beat up porcelain coke sleigh sign. The stuff is still out there you just gotta make it happen, The Cadillac is a awesome car its "sleeping" at my dads house about an hrs drive. the only thing its missing is the transmission othr than that a very complete and surprisingly solid car. One day she will roam the streets proud again. Joey Title: Finds of the week Post by: halehouse on November 28, 2006, 08:45:39 pm Cool finds. Good luck on the chests.
RC Chest Title: Finds of the week Post by: sodaworks on November 28, 2006, 09:18:02 pm WOW Joey!!
That Caddy is worth some serious cash. My buddy sold his custom Caddie 57 last year for some serious cash. I'll try to get a photo of it for you. Nice score on the ESSO as well!!! Title: Finds of the week Post by: coke_and_stuff on November 29, 2006, 06:13:30 am 2006 is NOT done yet and I still have a few things up my sleeves. The Caddy is awesome a true testament to the 1950s. Ive been offered $3,500 for it already and all I have to say is that its NOT for sale. If I sell it I will be hard pressed to find another. The Esso I may sell but it will look so cool restored.
Joey PS ALL out of Arkansas this time you MO boys got lucky this time......... Title: Finds of the week Post by: davethebirdman on November 29, 2006, 06:40:32 am Joey, are you thinking of restoring that Beast of a Caddy yourself??
Good luck mate. That is definately on my Ultimate Wish List. If I were you I secure those deals you have up your Sleeve. Remember Josh is on his way back for the Holidays. The both of you together, what a dream team. Title: Finds of the week Post by: Eric on November 29, 2006, 08:23:04 am Wow... Hard to believe there's anything left in Arkansas
That car is SWEET!!!!! I know we're a soda site here.... But you got to keep us up dated on that Car! Esso sign would be cool restored too... but I bet on Oldgas you could do some trading for a trans for the 57 and anything else you need for her.... Well guess we'll all stay tuned to see what you find next.... Title: Finds of the week Post by: loman4ec on November 29, 2006, 08:40:41 am The trans on the caddy would have just been an old powerglide. They are easy to find. You might even find one at one of your local jusnk yards. That thing does have a 283 in it right? If so a 350 turbo would work too and they are easy to get.
Title: Finds of the week Post by: coke_and_stuff on November 29, 2006, 02:11:32 pm Engine is a 365 V8, trans was a Hydra-matic. It will be a looooong time before that car sees the road it needs a full frame off restoration. I have already located a trans up in MO of all places with a good drivers side fender. I'll get some more pics this weekend. Drivers side needs a new fender and a door.
Joey Title: Finds of the week Post by: Eric on November 29, 2006, 03:19:59 pm Oh I see.. cross'n over to the promise land and take our stuff!Ha!
Man you are on it! Way to go! Hope you find everything you need! Title: Finds of the week Post by: MoonDawg on November 29, 2006, 03:49:29 pm That Cadillac was a better find than an RC 81.
What I don't understand is how it went the full length of the E-bay auction, and only brought $500. If it were mine I'd locate the body parts and tranny, use a box of steel wool on that chrome and apply a nice paint job and upholstery. Heck she could be on the road by summer Nice car Joey Title: Finds of the week Post by: MCarter on November 29, 2006, 03:55:11 pm Look at these possible finds. I need to offer the guy a price.
The picture quality is not the best. #1 double cola #2 Coke Cola converted to pepsi 33 #3 Hires Root beer cooler #4 Dr. pepper Roulette machine. #5 RC Cooler I will try to get better pictures Title: Finds of the week Post by: MCarter on November 29, 2006, 03:57:03 pm Last one
Title: Finds of the week Post by: Eric on November 29, 2006, 04:06:53 pm MCarter...
Please tell me your gonna buy that RC for me... I NEED that one.... If it's something that's in a combo deal and you really don't want it... I would be interested in it! That, as I'm sure you know is a Quikold standard..... Title: Finds of the week Post by: coke_and_stuff on November 29, 2006, 06:02:49 pm Great finds that RC is defenatly a rare find. Glen on the car I actually thought aboy going through the complete driveline, brakes, suspension, electrical, tires etc and actually driving it the way it is for a few years. Kind of like a rat rod but I would call it the Ghetto Cruiser Ha Ha!!!
PS I would trade it for a RC 81 Joey Title: Finds of the week Post by: Gumbo on November 29, 2006, 08:15:33 pm I need to move to Arkansas!
Title: Finds of the week Post by: Eric on November 29, 2006, 10:30:27 pm Is the Dr Pepper complete? I've only seen a couple of those and it been
