This year was an excellent year for me. Very busy and hectic at times but still very good.

I sold my house, got married, bought a new house, got advanced to the next higher rank in the Navy, Chief Petty Officer and got a promotion at work.  :p

Now for the good stuff! As far as Soda pop machines, I kinda took a break. I helped others with some machine issues but really didn't do a whole lot for myself.

I did finish restoring my Vendo Coin Changer and set about to find a mounting plate and Coca-Cola sign base. Both of which I have recently found (Ebay/Chicagoland Coin-op Show). I helped a friend of mine restore a Vendo 63 which turned out nicely.

My two biggest projects of the year was assisting in the restoration of MCarter' U-Pop-It Popcorn Vending Machine and completely restoring my Seeburg M100B Jukebox.

One of my neat finds this year (cheap too!) was a ABT/JF Frantz U.S. Marshal Gun Game. Got if off of Ebay for a great price and the guy lived only an hour and a half away just south of Louisville, KY.

All in all, a very good year!
As of recently, I found a bunch of stuff I'd been looking for at the Chicago Show.

My restoration project/bad ebay deal was my Cav CS-80C.

I also picked up and restored a Centipede game this spring.

Here's the Centipede.  I had to use a whole medium sized can of Bondo on it!

Why was the Cav a bad deal?

Why was the Cav a bad deal?

I bought it off of ebay and it was located near Lansing, MI.  So we are talking about almost a two-tank trip.  Guy moved to a smaller place and it worked when he moved.  Got to his place and it's cold, pouring rain and the Cav is sitting outside, since he didn't have any space inside.  I didn't ask the guy to plug it in since I was getting soaked and was freezing.  Got it home and the cooling system was shot (compressor kicks on and off, on and off).  The guy swears that it worked and my wife says that I should drive it back to him and get my money back.  Hmmm...4 tanks of gas now...about 60 gallons at around let's say $2.50 a gallon...I'd be out $150...I don't think so.  I emailed the guy a few times and he kept swearing that it worked.  By the time I was able to get the cooling system sent out and have Eric look at it, it was past 90 days.  Since I had the machine part way apart, was having Eric paint the system and the machine had one heck of a paint job (Coke, Pepsi and back to Coke with lots of overspray) I decided to get it painted.  It's alot more money than I was planning on spending on a machine, but according to Steve Ebner's book it will be worth more than I am spending and it sure will look nice.  I had flashbacks of this when Dave was talking about his clock in another thread.

I guess the best thing about 2006 for me was finding this site and getting to know you guys... AH, I know mushy! but true... I'm on this site at least a few times a day reading posts! its' a great way to pass the time at work! As far as finds in 2006...I was able to get some nice machines for my collection.. I got my Jacobs 26 at a fair price, I got a nice restored Vendo 56 Rt to replace the one I had sold a few years back, and got a Real Nice Glasco slider in near mint original condition. Not to mention a half dozen nice Coca-Cola signs for the walls.
Oh yeah also had to pack up everything and move to Wisconsin to take a new job!  Quite a busy but productive 2006 for Me! and it's not over yet!!!!
Thanks, John (Signguy)

Well, this year has been good to me too. I went from getting a POS V83 for nothing, to finding this site, buying 5-6 square tops, selling one or 2, my 88, and my Juke. Now I am looking at getting an arcade game or 3, possibly another juke or 3, plus getting a few of my buddies in trouble with my new hobby :D...  Now all we need is someone on this site who can add hours to a day to make more time to play with these toys....   :hopefull:

Happy Thanksgiving every one.  It has been a great year for my restoration projects.  Most of all, I am thankful that my 3 year basement project is finally done.  The 50s style malt shop was the last stage of finishing off my basement.  I hope you like the pictures.

However, I am moving on to different pastures.  I finally bought my 1931 5 window coupe.  It is an Oldsmobile that has great potential.  I will spend the next year fixing it up to be a traditional high boy hot rod.  It will be "old school".  I know nothing ablout restoring old cars but I knew nothing about restoring old soda machines 4 years ago.  Please wish me luck.

I will keep in touch

Nice room.  Actually, it looks like you have too much room!  You need to get more "stuff" down there.
Wow, looks like you have lots to do on the Olds.  Is that all you have to start with?

Okay 2006 has been a very big year for me. It was only after I walked around my little room that I realised just how much I have bought this year. No wonder the Bank Manager has struck me off his Xmas Card list. Thank God for an understanding wife. My New Year resolution is to be more of my own man. I will not be swayed by certian individuals on this site who has brain washed me into buying alsorts (Only Joking)

The year started with my Hershey Machine turning up a little dented and a few weeks late.

I then found a Swami Fortune Telling Machine reight here in the Uk so snapped that up.

Next came the Petrol Pump. A good 40's/50's English pump. Took it back to bare metal and re-sprayed it and now it sits happily inside after spending a lifetime outside.

Why stop there. I found a Jukebox seller trying to get rid of a Jacobs Pepsi Machine. Went and had a look at it and before I know it a couple of Elves were laoding it into my car. Not only that but they also said "Why don't you take those two dispensers?". The Jacobs is sitting sadly in the garage. One day I hope to get enough together to have that sorted properly. The dole was sandblasted and re-sprayed and with the help of Creighton I managed to get a stand for it a few months ago.

Enough the wife crys. But Oh no. What's this I see on Ebay. Surely not a V-56. With great excitement I travel 4 hours each way (that is quite difficult to do on my small Island) to pick up a V-56 that has sat in a barn for at least 20 yrs ad probably another 15 yrs before that in a Barn in the US. Lots of money and time and a reat deal of help from too many to mention and the machine is now almost ready. The Compressor is out and with a professional and I keep my fingers crossed that it can be fixed.

In between I find a Candy machine near to home in a basement. That was taken back to bear metal re-sprayed and decals made.

I then found a Perfume dispeser on Ebay here in the UK. That turned up all dented and with broken bottles but s now proudly sitting on the vendng a spray of perfume for just a dime.

The jukebox show produced a lovely RC Picnic Cooler. Always wanted something RC never tasted it but the Yellow is a great colour.

The Hires Sign was a bonus. Great sign at a very great price.

Last of all the clock, which I have bored you all with already.

So, all in all a great year for toys. With my trip to the US in a few months who knows what I'll be able to pack and bring back.

The best thing of all though is the great group of friends I now have that share this hobby of mine. They are priceless.

Wow! Davethebirdman you have an Amazing collection! and for being so young!! :D

Can i ask what a couple of your machines are?
Is this a Radio?

You know if i got one of these for the girlfriend she'd probly complain less about me spending all my money on coin-op instead of buying her a christmas present  :hopefull:

Yep, that's my radio. Not quite as pretty as the Dahlberg on the other topic but it works just great and sits right next to my desk for the football.

The pink thing is indeed a perfume dispenser and it gives you a squirt for an old English Sixpence or a US dime. The bottles that came with it. Unfortunately two broke due to very bad packing, still smelt of the perfume left in them.

The model in my posts is by little boy Elliot who is an expert on Ebay and I have just discovered (a costly one) that he knows my password. A six year old who has taken to buying his own Christmas Presents.

A good year for you indeed!

I have that very same perfume dispenser but mine doesn't have a sign. Thanks
for screwing that up for me :D
Mine also smelled of the old perfume and it was cheap old perfume that made you feel sick  :D
