Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on August 29, 2006, 01:31:04 pm Hello everyone,
The database and system files upgrades went smoothly ! ! ! I'm ALWAYS nervouse when it's time to upgrade for new features, security updates and just staying current... Anyway, as things progress over the coming days, please post any changes I may have missed or modifications the system may need as an improvement... It seems this upgrade was a complete rewrite of all the system files so it will take me a little while to get all the images, text, etc., etc. back to the way it was... Some things, I may just leave as is just to refresh the look... Hopefully helpful, Jim Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: collecture on August 29, 2006, 01:58:49 pm Looks great so far Jim!
Keep up the good work! Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Creighton on August 29, 2006, 02:13:43 pm Very nice!!
Thanks, Creighton Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: dr galaga on August 29, 2006, 05:32:38 pm Looks good Jim!
A little note to everyone: you may want to click your refresh button so all the new content loads. I had a mix of old looking and new looking buttons on my screen until I did this! Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: coke_and_stuff on August 29, 2006, 06:27:51 pm Site looks great!

Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: collecture on August 30, 2006, 01:40:28 pm Jim,
One thing i have noticed that is different. A PM used to be readable in the email notification, but now you have to log on to SMC in order to read the message. Not that big of a deal, but it was nice to be able to just read it and then choose whether to answer it right away or wait until later. Everything else looks fantastic! Also, capital letters are being converted to small case on posts. If I go back and edit the post, the caps take hold. Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: jasmine64too on August 30, 2006, 02:05:00 pm Well it looks nice, you shouldnt worry. no complaints here.

If I go back and edit the post, the caps take hold. I noticed this too. it's like the anti-shouting feature that is used in the subject line is also working inside the posts. I just checked it and the only Etiquette Filter is for post titles. Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: globalcompressors on August 30, 2006, 06:20:35 pm Keep up the good work, jim!
looks great! Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on August 30, 2006, 06:51:03 pm Thanks everyone!
i'll look into the pm email messages... i did enable the "no shouting" feature which may be limiting the caps; i'll turn it off and see if there's a difference... Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Ginger Prince on August 31, 2006, 05:00:20 am Jim,
I am in UK, and although I utilise the board very little currently, I still appreciate greatly the work, you all do to improve the soda enthusiasts world. I am arranging to meet up with "Dave the Birdman" shortly so he can show me his collection and hopefully his V56, as soon the paint job is completed! My V81 is still awaiting restoration, so hopefully my trip to Dave might inspire me to move that project along!!! keep up the great work! Regards Ginger Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Skeleton Man on September 03, 2006, 06:40:52 pm Couple of small suggestions for you Jim
1) Can the "members viewing this topic" be moved back to the bottom of the screen (this is how the old skin was I think ?) 2) Can we make it so the pink tile pattern covers the whole screen ? I get a thick pale blue box around the entire forum on each page because the design is set to 95% of the screen width instead of 100%. Attached is a screenshot so you can see what I mean. I'm happy to help with the above if you like Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on September 07, 2006, 12:16:16 pm Hello again,
I'm attempting to include additional attachments dialog boxes but the code is for an older version and this doesn't appear to be functioning... A previous post seems to be lost in the system somewhere; it's not showing... Oh well, back to the original code for now... Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on September 07, 2006, 12:41:02 pm Another attempt at this mod...
Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on September 07, 2006, 12:42:34 pm OK ! ! !
There you go! Now you can attach up to five files/images ! ! ! Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Gumbo on September 07, 2006, 09:18:18 pm Thanks Jim. The site looks great!
Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: firemun on September 07, 2006, 09:22:50 pm Jim,
It looks great! I know one time there was discussion about sending you some $$ for your work and costs to maintain...I don't remember the outcome of that discussion...but I would be glad to contribute if you would accept. As for me I like the members viewing at the top of the page. Jeff Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on September 08, 2006, 08:15:44 pm Hello again,
Just a follow-up: I'm having difficulty with the Rating System; it doesn't seem to maintain a rating. I'm still consulting with higher powers... Is this something we need or want...? Lastly, I like the new look and actually think the light blue border, of sorts, adds to the feel a little bit... So, if you really didn't mind Chris, I would like to keep things this way for a little... If anyone has additional input, please post... Thanks again & enjoy! Title: Upgrade went smooth... I know skins are a PITA on some boards, is it difficult on this one also? Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Creighton on September 08, 2006, 10:25:18 pm Jim,
I also like the blue look. Not sure what the rating system is or does. I can live without it. Thanks for all!! Creighton Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: halehouse on September 09, 2006, 07:05:31 am Would we be rating each other? If so, I don't think it is needed. The page looks great!
Hmmm, my avatar isn't showing up anymore. I guess I'll have to fix that. Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: dr galaga on September 09, 2006, 08:55:00 am I think I like the new look, it is just taking a little bit to get used to the new layout. Ratings are a toss-up, but I'm not really sure if we need them. The big bonus is that the speed of the site has improved a lot!
Three cheers for Jim! Title: Upgrade went smooth... Post by: Jim on September 09, 2006, 09:15:48 am Ratings will be removed...
