Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: bubba on August 20, 2006, 07:30:42 pm that is cool... is that just an icebox type of cooler, or is something missing? Who manufactured that?
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: sodaworks on August 20, 2006, 07:34:14 pm That's nice, Anyone close to it that could help with shipping?
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Jim on August 20, 2006, 08:13:24 pm This is a nice cooler!
I think it may be an S&S/Quikold 1400... I noticed the cover for the refrigeration lines too... I'll assume there was a refrigeration system at one time... Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Ltransam on August 20, 2006, 09:16:14 pm Yea.It's cool I was going to hit the BIN but say's No shipping Local Pick-up only .I did'nt think anyone was up in the area to help .So I let it Pass .And some one is bidding on it now .

Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: loman4ec on August 20, 2006, 09:53:02 pm I have also found that most people that have their auctions as local pick up only don't mind shipping through a freight company like NAVL. I think most people just don't understand how something of that size would be shipped and don't want the hassle of finding a way. Generally when I explain that I will make the arrangements and a truck will come to their house to pick it up and I will pay for the shipping COD they generally have no problem with it. It is more expensive to go this way but NAVL only wants $335 to ship one machine or cooler up to 1500 miles door to door delivery and it doesn't have to be on a pallet. That is a great deal.
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 20, 2006, 10:24:18 pm How sweet would that be orange with an off white lettering like JohnieG said!
That's a Quikold type! I just tore my backporch off this ol house yesterday! So cash for this hobby in my wife's eyes does not exist!... So I am out That has so much great embossing! I feel anything embossed that's not Coca-Cola or Pepsi from a small company like this is rare!... I've never seen one like this.... Would LOVE to have this would really break up the red and blue in the collection. Hope someone here gets it! It's missing the compressor but it has the chrome pieces and the cap catcher! A great find! Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Ltransam on August 21, 2006, 08:19:23 am

Would look good black with orange and cream too! Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Gumbo on August 21, 2006, 06:22:29 pm Dan, you should drive on up to Mass. and get that one. It would be a nice weekend trip. That is a cool machine with a nice price.
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 21, 2006, 08:10:36 pm Hey! I'm a hard item to find!....
I'm not a 81 or a 39 that's on eBay at any given time... I'm a small brand from a small company... And since Eric's wife already said no... I think someone else from SMC should buy me, drive up here and pick me up!... How cool would I look in your collection!.... Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: halehouse on August 21, 2006, 08:51:14 pm Ugh, that is probably 8-9 hours one way.
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Pat Pixley on August 21, 2006, 09:58:09 pm WOW this is a great looking cooler. Dan why don't you
put a bid on that and then maybe work out a deal with Eric ( if close to the cooler) And maybe have Eric pick it up for you and maybe meet you half way . Pat Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Creighton on August 21, 2006, 09:59:32 pm Nice box! I remember Orange Kist in the midwest late 60's. It was good. It went away and all you get was Orange Crush. Not as much flavor seemed to me.

We should sticky note some of these phone numbers. What was the phone number of Navl and the contact persons name? Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: halehouse on August 22, 2006, 08:39:22 am Dang, all I said was it was kind of cool.
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 22, 2006, 09:00:48 am Yeah.. I'm in Missouri.... I bought my 7up Quikold junior and it cost me around $250 from
the ND.... And with the work we're doing on our house... I'm out on this one... But if it where a 10 hour drive and stayed around a couple hundred bucks price wise... I'd be owning it. As close as I'm gonna get on this is storing that image in my machine folder I keep on odd/rare machines. Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Ltransam on August 22, 2006, 02:41:41 pm aaauuggg The pain of it ! Oh Wait !that the tooth I just had pulled ( $175 ching ching ) But if I was closer I'D BUY IT !!!! Just can't drive that far ..
Ltransam (ouch ) Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Bob K on August 23, 2006, 07:27:27 am I've been off the board for a few days .
I'm in MA and may take a swipe at this one. So are we certain that isn't original paint? Bob Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 23, 2006, 08:46:24 am Bob I bet that's original paint.. but bet it would be killer A dark orange, creamy white letters
with black lids and a black caster base! I really wish I could afford it but at the time I'm broke! I would be all over that one... Hope someone here gets it... Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 23, 2006, 08:50:52 am Hate to even say this... but.... it would make a AWESOME junior cooler! But it's a great size
as is too! But if it were one of those 8' monster coolers a little cut and weld here and there and BAM! You'd have a sweet little junior that would be worth way more! Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Bob K on August 23, 2006, 10:49:55 am Does the refrigeration line cover on the back mean that this was definitely a cooled unit?
If so, I'm not interested in re-creating the water cooling system. I had my fill with my Vendo spin-top - no more agitator motors for me . Bob Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: collecture on August 23, 2006, 10:56:47 am The refrigeration line cover just means it had a cooling system, but does not necessarily mean it was a dry cool system; however, since it is missing, just put in a dry cool system.
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 26, 2006, 07:58:01 pm $227.00!!! Did anyone here get it?.... That was a deal! Curse these house projects!
Would have loved to have owned that one! I must say I would have made a Junior out of it! orange, off white letters and a black lid! SWEET!!!! oh well back to put another coat of compound on the drywall But next time! Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: MoonDawg on August 27, 2006, 10:42:33 am My vote is with Eric, that as a junior would be a hit!
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 27, 2006, 08:01:39 pm Yeah I was looking through my machine book and all those odd ball juniors...
That Hires that was in CA again..if it it's missing the compressor and is too big of a cooler - cut 'er down... that's all the juniors were anyway two embossed ends that Barq's junior brougth pretty good money here about a year back. This is probably the only time you'll hear me talk about chopping a machine. I like stuff all original with original paint scheme but those little guys are the perfect size unless you can find a standard (double junior) those are nice size machines too! That Orange Kist was border line in size.... Hope one shows up closer... I'd like to get something that scarce... Hope who ever got it shows up here and we get to see the restoration. Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 27, 2006, 08:06:13 pm Here are some others I've seen Quikold through the years on eBay.....
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 27, 2006, 08:08:01 pm And the Pepsi I should have bought! Aghhhhhh!!!!!
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Skeleton Man on August 28, 2006, 08:45:33 pm Are all those missing the compressor or do they just use ice and no refrigeration ?
Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 28, 2006, 10:20:55 pm The Pepsi and RC were non-compressors the OC had at one time a compressor
you can tell by the metal slats in the base, the wider off set slat helped hold the compressor. these are early 40s and I think are VERY COOL harder to find I've only seen one other Orange Kist and it was a smaller standard cooler and it was in the Club Soda magazine in someones collection years ago. I feel these would be fun to collect. I only have a 7up junior... These are WAY few and far between... Bet there are more RC 81s out there and that Orange Kist cooler. Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: Eric on August 30, 2006, 12:54:20 pm See! how cool this would have been....
now i think about it... the house really doesn't need siding... i kinda like the exposed look..... Title: Embossed orange kist Post by: audiobeer on August 30, 2006, 08:15:23 pm Who says it's not a sickness......
