Title: Coin operated scales Post by: davethebirdman on August 21, 2006, 08:47:04 am 14lbs = 1 stone.
Its another measurement of weight. I wonder why you guys never took it on. Prior to the Kilo everything got weighed first in Oz then lbs and then stones. When we weigh ourselves its always in stones. Title: Coin operated scales Post by: cvb141 on August 21, 2006, 10:41:57 pm I don't know anything about them other than I have an old American Scale. I got it a while back because I thought it was neat. The weight is accurate and it also tells your fortune. It accepts just one penny. If you notice, they spelled weight as (wate). Never heard the term stones either. Well anyway, thought I would share a picture.

Title: Coin operated scales Post by: cvb141 on August 22, 2006, 09:21:09 am I gave $75 for mine. Wasn't sure what the value was supposed to be, but bought it any way. In the small print on the front it also gives you your ideal weight according to your height, for male and female.
Jerry Title: Coin operated scales Post by: Skeleton Man on August 23, 2006, 06:29:18 pm Stones were used before KG back in Australia too (we tend to follow the brits in a lot of ways).. a lot of mechanical scales still measure in stones.. I didn't know the conversion rate though..
Title: Coin operated scales Post by: Skeleton Man on August 23, 2006, 06:31:51 pm How does the fortune telling part work ? I'm assuming some kinda mechanical magic 8-ball ? Would be neat to own one !
Title: Coin operated scales Post by: cvb141 on August 25, 2006, 06:57:26 am There is a large wheel with fortunes wrote around it. When you step onto the scales, it spins the wheel around like a slot machine. The weight of the penny holds back the piece that covers where you read your wate & fate. When you step off it covers it back over and the penny falls in the coin box.
