Title: Needed -- small coinco s75 part
Post by: on August 13, 2006, 01:25:49 pm
I have a C64 with the Coinco S75-9800B changer.  At the very bottom of the changer is a small motor with a "kickout" that turns and ejects nickels for change, or when the inventory switch is held.  That plastic kicker broke, so I need a replacement.

Everything else works fine.  Epoxy, plastic cement, JB Weld, plastic welding ... nothing would hold. So, I've got to replace it.

EDIT:  OK, I tracked down the manual for the changer (Thanks SMC).   It looks like I can use either of these part numbers:

902651 - Drive Arm Cam  (from S75-9800A)

406072 - Carrier and Pulse Cam Assemby (from S75-9800B)

Whats it look like maybe someone can build you one?  Building things these days seems to be easier and easier, especially with the internet....  And I know you can buy a plastic molding kit from several places not to expensive....  Just my 2 cents... when I cant find it I resort to garage engineer lol

The S-75 is so common and in-expensive, you could buy another one and keep yours as a spare.

I found the part.   $6.00 shipped.  That's cheaper than a complete changer.   Although, I'll keep my eye out for one because I noticed several stress cracks in this one when I had it apart.

If you guys are working on the S75-9800 series plastic coinmechs you'll soon discover that the Norel plastic doesn't take to super-glue ( this type of plastic is related to Nylon)
but if you use a super-glue activator on both sides of the cracked piece first & then apply the glue to one side, you'll have more sucess, this activator is like a primer coat is to painting, it's available at local hobby shops by the glues for plastic models, just ask the sale person, he/she'll know what you need!

stress cracking of Norel is 99% time related to contact with solvents when the 'mech was serviced or cleaned, you should never use a WD40 type spray lubricant on a plastic coinmech! only the tiny little metal pivot points need a miro-drop of silcone oil only on the coin cradles metal/metal contact points , I use a precision oiler used for model trains. never lubricate the coin-path either, this will only bring you grief! as it will hold dirt & grime & slow down the coins (add drag) to the point that they'll hang up in the 'mech, or all be rejected.

$6 for that part..  The whole mech can't be worth much more than $10 ?

$40 - $60 on eBay for a complete S75.

hey roger,

back to my original question, where did you find the part?

I looked on eBay for people selling parts.  I e-mailed them all, and one guy responded "Yeah, I've got that.  $6.00, shipped and I'll send it out tomorrow."
