If I go ahead and bead or sand blast my Cav22, how long do I have to get it painted before it rusts?

Well is the body strait ? If so then you will want to
get in primer right away.

It's pretty straight. Only the lid hinges are my problem and they need to be cut out and new metal spliced in.
Any ides on how to proceed with the lids the sand blast and prime.

It really depends on your climate. If the machine stays inside your garage and its kept dry then you will not have any problems.
