Title: How selection buttons work?133
Post by: on July 08, 2006, 08:18:50 pm
I have a three selection Coke machine (1956 Cavalier 144) which I'm trying to restore. Way back in the day, is a selection made first then change is put in the slot? The switches on this machine are not a momentary pushbutton type like on modern soda machines but is a steady "on" or "off" type (like a light switch). The three switches are mechanically linked so only one selection can be made. If it's this way then I'd like to change it to a momentary pushbutton if it's possible?

Thanks-------- Larry

Larry,
I've worked on one CS-144 once for a friend and he had momentary pushbuttons on his machine.  At the time I thought they were original, sure looked liked they belonged there (no hacked up mess).  They looked identical to the pushbutton arrangement used on the CS-124.  I'd say it's possible to do this conversion but not sure what it would entail.  Anything can be modified, the real question is how much work do you want to put into it?   :;):

I'm looking at purchasing a CS-144, how do you like yours?  What all can you vend in it?  Just 6-8 oz bottles or can you do other sizes as well?
