Title: Vendo 6 case
Post by: halehouse on July 03, 2006, 02:18:55 pm
Here are two pictures of a 6 case machine.  Owner says the compressor cools and was "remanufactured in the 80's".  I haven't seen it in person.  It is local.  Thoughts? Does it really only weigh 198 lbs?

Ahh, try more like 400lbs! and the '80's   :p , try the mid fortys through the late fifties. from what I see. it's the original compressor, maybe he meant it serviced in the eighties.

No, it is definately around 200+ lbs. - it has no coin mech/linkage, coin door or bottle stack and the shelves are wire racks instead of solid steel - that is a lot of weight missing from the usual 350-400 lb. V110. It is framed out of wood like all 110's and is prone to rot at the bottom of the bottle door and bottom of the main door behind "Ice Cold". Some had light bars in the bottle door. The cap catcher is there.
I like mine - it will hold most any bottle or can although the cans are a little awkward to get out. It looks like it is missing one shelf, but Fun-Tronics carries repro's for $25 + S&H - originals can be difficult to find, but not impossible. The picture is pretty small and I can't say with any certainty, but it looks like an original 50's compressor and not an 80's model.
Walter's give avg. condition value of $475.

Thanks.  Seller in an email said that an electrician replaced the compressor in the early 80's, but advertised it as remanufactured.  Good info on the spots prone to rot. They are away now, but when they get back I may try to go look at it.
