Have a late 50's, early 60's Westinghouse Soad Machine. I'm having trouble identifying the specific model #. The best I can see from the nameplate data is WB-060, however, the closest model picture I could find on the internet is a Model WC-060MB (Looks just like it). In addition to identifying this unit, I am looking for the best restoration manual I can find to assist me in the complete resoration of this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Welcome to the site Bill. Westinghouse (along with others) seemed to make have many versions of the same machine. I am kind of in the same boat as you, I have a (rough) Westinghouse WB102-B4-D, but it looks like a WC series! You might try some of the advertisers on the site to find a service manual. As for restoration, look around the old messages and ask lots of questions!

Thanks. I appreciate the advice. I'll post some pics of it in the next few days. Check back by Friday and I'll have them posted. Do you have any preffered vendors for compressor decks. I'm afraid I may have a bad compressor (It's not cooling and sounds rough). The condensor coil isn't in too bad a shape however have not opened yet to see the evaporator coils.

Just about everyone deals with Eric at Global Compressors (see ad above). Give him a call because it may be something where you can send the cooling system in to him and it would be cheaper than a new unit.

Okay, here it is! Sorry it took so long. I forgot last weekend was fathers day - my bad. Can anyone tell me the type of refrigerant specifically used in this machine originally?

Nice machine Bill. Yea, it's probably a WB-060MD but they probably just dropped the MD in the WB series.

Okay, after using a couple of paper clips and a screw driver and carefully turning we were able to finally get it open last night without any damege (Owner could not find the original key). Found everything to be original. Sheetmetal surfaces were rough, but not rusted. Evaporator pan showed some rust but did not appear to be rusted through. Coin mechanism seems to be working fine. Selector dial seems to be working fine. Compressor is running rough and entirely too hot. Fan is working, however, liquid line and suction line appeared to be both at ambient. I'm having trouble hunting down the specific WB60-K6 manual. All I'm finding is the WC series. Need some help with that.

Which fan is working? The fan inside where the cans/bottles are should always be running. The fan down by the compressor should kick in every time that the compressor is on (and the compressor does get hot when it is running).
The manual is a tough question. You may want to give Funtronics a call and see which one they think you should get.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The condenser fan is running, however, after we opened it, we noticed that the evaporator fan is not. We found a manual through another website, but it's for a WC78. The problem with this manual is, of course, that it is an original 1960 - 1961 manual. It's basically a maintenance manual - not enough info for total restoration. The WC78 manual we have makes note to the fact that it supersedes SE-9948 and is dated October 1961. I curious if we actually have a pre 1960's model here.
