Title: Club soda magazines
Post by: BryanH on June 07, 2006, 10:28:51 am
I bought 9 of the newer magazines on ebay.  Vol 38 (Oct 1999), 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 47 and 48 (Aug 2000).  Not much to these mags (really come to appreciate how pwerful the internet is... and how great this site is).  Each has a main article, a how-to column, some filler and a few pages of classifieds.  Their reprint ad lists what was inlcuded.  #47's feature article was on Mills machine and #48's was the part 1 of 2 on Glascock.

Anyway, if folks are interested, I'll scan them into pdf's for sharing or for hosting here (at some point).

Yeah that was a great club.... I still have all my copies (1-to whatever the last one was)
Wish that machine book could/would have been made.
I agree..... this site is a lot more fun than waiting for the once a month copy.
You get to know others more and see what is still being found.
I feel I've made some friends here... most who I will probably never get to meet in person
but I know I can count on when the time comes to restore some of the machines I have.

I've had a chance to look at a stack of these mags that a friend of mine has and I really like them. It's a shame what happened and the demise of Club Soda stunk. I know a few people that were pretty angry. Not only at having their money stolen but the loss of a really neat publication.

I would love to see some of them. Thanks for the offer, Bryan!

I have almost the complete set, missing # 12, 20, and 25.

First issue was Dec. 1995......10 years ago.  The articles are informative and deal exclusively with pre-60's machine finds and info.
Am willing to loan these to someone who could copy them for sharing.

Well maybe I spoke too soon... scanning takes way more time than originally expected.  :D  So here's the first copy that I scanned #48 August 2000.  It's almost 8MB and that's set at moderate image quality. This one has only articles and is still 4MB.  Let me know if you think they're readable (enough) or if I need to scan at a higher image quality.

I don't have the space to keep many of these so I'll pop'em up as I get to them... (which won't be fast)... and rotate old versions off as needed.  If you have a preference for which ones are next let me know.

Glen - I'll wait and see how well things go with the nine copies I have before signing up for more.  FYI the reprint list says #12 had an article on painting embossed letters.

I too lost my money on the "book" that was never published. What the #### ever happened to that guy? I remember speaking with him on the phone, seemed likable enough. I saved just about every issue as well got a few issues when it was first called "The Soda Pop Press".

I'd bet the P.O. box is in someone elses name by now. Has anyone tried a people search for him?

The PO Box 624, Veradale, WA 99037-0624 address is from a 2006 government bid list, so it should be current.
