Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: bubba on June 07, 2006, 06:35:04 am Do all Stylestar machines light up? I am looking at one close to me that is just too cheap to pass up. It supposedly gets cold, but a problem with the can rack. I'd be buying it strictly for a few parts, including the sign. If it lights up, its even better... Its a Vendo 165-5 That I can get for about $20.
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: loman4ec on June 07, 2006, 07:48:37 am No not all stylestar machines are lightup's. That one looks like a metal sign. For that price I would get it if I were you. The cooling system is worth that. It should be the same as a square top 56
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: BryanH on June 07, 2006, 10:33:26 am Adding a light is easy... of course finding a stylestar sign might be a challenge.
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: bubba on June 07, 2006, 02:46:52 pm I was more looking at the sign to hang on the wall maybe with a light behind it... I dunno.. I'm trying to justify why I need another machine, but for $20 its worth grabbing for something. It just so happens that I have a crew of guys not too far from this machine that would be very willing to pick it up for me...
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: KreKol on June 11, 2006, 01:43:07 pm If you decide to pick it up, I would be interested in a few parts off of it.
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: bubba on June 11, 2006, 08:32:39 pm I am going to get it... I am just waiting for a time for one of my worker to be in the area... Once I get the machine, I'll decide what I am going to do with it, but I think I am going to part it out. I want the sign, the coin chainger, and probably the compressor. As of now, the rest is up for grabs. I should have the machine by mid-week.

Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: Ridewithme38 on July 24, 2006, 03:31:59 pm ***EDIT***
Just now for some reason looked at the side of the machine... this Machine is Labeled as a V165B!! not V165-5 or V165-A Still can't find any info on it!! Haha sorry bubba looks like i stole this machine right out from under you...i'm new to this sight just found it while i was looking for tips on this machine.... The Cooling unit does work perfectly...the coinco works perfectly...and two out of the five buttons work perfectly the sign does look like it lights up...but i have no idea how to tell! theres three little what look like white light covers right below the sign thats the only reason i'm guessing there are lights in there Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: Jim on July 24, 2006, 09:11:32 pm Seth,
If you're going to continue stopping by, we have one rule that doesn't get broken: Never steal from a fellow soda machine collector! Especially one from SMC... An offical "Welcome to SMC" is in order as well. Congrats on your find! Hope you get it working properly soon... Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: petey64 on July 24, 2006, 09:58:20 pm Yeah all you have to do is announce that you would like to bid on a certain machine and these folks here will step aside.....and of course welcome, it sounds like that is your first machine but not the last.
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: Ridewithme38 on July 24, 2006, 10:18:37 pm sorry i didn't know about this site when i bought it....i should....hopefully....have it working at least 90% by next week....it's hard to find any information on this specific model so any tips on finding parts like the wood grain replacement or even just a 75 cent sticker would be awesome!
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: petey64 on July 24, 2006, 10:27:26 pm Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: Ridewithme38 on July 24, 2006, 10:39:26 pm No luck on that site...See where i wrote 75 cents? i'm kind of looking for a sticker for that and of course the new woodgrain
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: bubba on July 25, 2006, 05:34:07 am Congrats on the machine.. I didn't really need it anyway.. I would have ripped it up for parts.
Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: Ridewithme38 on July 25, 2006, 12:50:51 pm Hi bubba sorry about taking this machine from you...i've always wanted a soda machine and this one was VERY reasonably priced....i was wondering since you were going to by this machine if you knew anything about it? This is either a really rare machine..or just a very unwanted machine....for some reason i can't find ANY information on it anywhere online...i don't even know what year it was made...and i'm just guessing that its a stylestar machine because of the sign on the front...
The only thing i know for sure about the machine is its a V165-5...Please if any of you veterans can help a new guy out with identifying this machine i wouls greatly apreciate it Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: halehouse on July 25, 2006, 01:05:11 pm Well, you have identified it as a Vendo 165-5. Did you look at the one under the soda machines index on this site? It gives some basic info. You are right in that the sign is a stylestar design.

I would vote for more of the second. Most of the people here are more in to the round-top machines and the slant-shelf machines (the kind where you open the door on the side and pull out your drink). Machines like yours will probably start to become more popular in a few years since they are cheaper than the earlier machines. Here's the info from the machine section here: Title: Vendo stylestar Post by: collecture on July 25, 2006, 01:11:21 pm I am pretty sure Fun-Tronics (a SMC sponser - check the banners at the top) carries the woodgrain.

Don't be sorry, I wasn't planning on keeping that machine in one piece anyway ... If I really wanted it, I would have gotten it a month ago. I don't know anything about it other than I was going to use the compressor in one machine I have that may need one, and possibly save a few pieces. The rest would have ended up on ebay or in the trash... I would have been curious to see what makes it work though.. interesting setup inside.. |
