Title: Odd 81 Post by: collecture on June 07, 2006, 01:36:40 am I am looking at a solid looking 81 (pic below) that is a mixmatch. It has a large louvre, no chrome Pepsi 81 body (painted Coke red) with a Tecumseh refrigeration unit (blue showing down there). There is an embossed CC 81D main door (looks misaligned) that has a busted door liner and a Pepsi (painted Coke red) large door coin door complete with VMC bezel...coin box...cap catcher...working lock and key and a small door type large door mech in it. The stack is complete and all shelves are there with 7 of them showing the sliders (can't see the other two). Says it cooled fine when last plugged in, but hasn't been tested. Body looks in good shape with no major rust or dents. Ooh.. just noticed no kickplate!

What I think happened is someone had a Pepsi 81 and wanted a coke so got a 81D front door and just swapped the parts. That VMC bezel is worth some change to the right buyer another ebay oddity one day its worth $100.00 the next $500.00, The cabinet has the small louvers and is wrong for a Coca Cola 81D, but found on Pepsi 81s, worth $1500-$2000. Not correct but the other parts outweigh that factor.
