Title: Larger volume bottle's
Post by: on November 09, 2002, 02:30:55 am
OK heres my prob, I have a vendo 83 which really limits me to what I can put in it due to bottle size, right now I am limited to the 8 oz glass bottles that are sold by Coke currently and to the older 10 oz straight side diamond logo coke bottle that I refill with flavor of my choice(but I only have a dozen or so of these bottles).

Does anyone know where I can get more of the 10 oz bottles or of a pop brand that has a glass bottle that will work in this machine other than the 8oz coke as I would prefer a larger volume of bottle.

So far I have tried several different brands but to no avail since most are either to large in diameter or too tall of bottle (ie stewarts, jones,)

Any help greatly appreciated while the ideal solution would be being able to locate more of the straight side bottles I'm open to all idea's

I was surfing the other day, instead of working, and ran accross this site: www.realsoda.com .  I have never ordered from hear, but emailed them and they replied back pretty quick.  Looks like they have quite a selection - check it out.

Hi

Do you want Coke only bottles in your Vendo 83?

If not at WallMart they sell Orange Crush 6 pak bottles for about $2.50. They may fit? They fit well in my sliders. I also have a vendo 83 but it is still in the process of being restored so I have not been able to check for bottle options.

I get my older original bottles from e-bay, clean and cap them, and refill them myself. I allways wait to find an auction where they are selling at least 6, 12 or more bottles at a time. That way usually they are exactly the same model, year and it makes the price of shipping worth while.

My other option is buying the new old style bottles of coke when they are on sale. I have about 48 of those which I also clean and re-use. You can buy Coke bottle caps that say Classic Coke on them at e-bay for around $6.00 per hundred unused.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck

Hello,

Working the same issue here. In addition to the ebay advice, I have also raided the local antique stores. Don't see why a 12 oz. bottle wouldn't work in a 83, does in my 56. May need to adjust the shelf.

The local home brew store here had all the gear to clean and cap vintage bottles. Also a good selection of new bottles which would work fine until you had a complete set of vintage. Just got back from Panama and Coke, Pepsi, Orange Crush and some small lable fruit drinks were still available in bottles.

Let everyone know what you find. Maybe a "vintage bottle" forum?

wish it was as simple as adjusting a shelf for me.  But the Vendo 83 uses a honeycomb drum instead of shelves, and is not adjustable.  Hence my terrible bottle dilemna.

Really wish I could use the other bottles since there is a vendor in town that sells coke, sprite, diet coke, dr. pepper and orange crush in the original 10 ounce bottles "longnecks". :(

Stupid on my part. I was thinking an 81 despite typing and knowing it was an 83 regrets.

Any chance your supplier would ship to CA.? A case of Dr. P for starts.

Thanks,
Creighton

Hmmm. I thought an 83 would handle a 10oz. loaded neck/crown first ( bottom of the bottle facing the customer)
Yes...No??? ??? We've got Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite,& Dr.Pepper
in 8oz. glass here in the Flint Mich. area.

I don't know if it is compatable but check out http://www.cornhuskersign.com/extra/extra.htm They are making a drum for the Vendo 39 that allows for the larger bottles.

Not sure if he would ship but I will get his phone number tommorrow when I visit his store (stores name is Ambers Variety located on Superior in Albion Mi just in case anyone is wondering).

Not sure if that drum would work I'll have to give them a call to see as it would be great to be able to use the longer bottle.

My collection of the 10oz diamond logo straight sides is growing though as I am now up to 27 bttls and refilling's a pinch. And its becoming quite fun scouring the neighboring antique shops looking for bottles as its led to a few new additions in my coke collection as well.
