Title: Cavalier-cav 873
Post by: on May 21, 2006, 02:08:59 pm
I have had this coke machine for over 15 years...The refrigerator just quit chilling...It still hums as usual...But alas...No more cold soda/adult beverage   The Heat exchanger in the compressor compartment says its made by Cavalier with Model # Cav 873... How do I recharge this machine so that I may return to - :drinking: &  :drinkers:  It says that it uses F-12 refrigerant. Is this the same as R-12? How would I convert this to R-134?  Thanks for any help...

Wecome aboard! Looks like a late model Cavalier 64.  Interesting graphics on there.
Couple of questions:
-Do both fans work?  (underneath and next to the compressor)
-Is the compressor running and getting warm (or do you hear the fan)?  (you may need to actually feel it, but use a gloved hand since it could be hot)  If yes, does it keep running or shut off?

Also, watch out for Markito.  He's gonna give you  :censored: for having stuff on top of your machine!

Thanks for the quick reply....The compressor is vibrating...Fan downstairs is pulling air through the lower heat exchanger...when I open the machine I hear a fan inside and can feel air moving around inside the machine...compressor is cool to the touch after running for about 5 mins...If I turn off the switch the compressor stops humming, the fan inside stays on and the fan downstairs turns off...
