Title: A couple of signs on ebay
Post by: davethebirdman on May 12, 2006, 03:44:04 pm
A couple of large signs have surfaced on Ebay and I wondered if anyone would have ideas about originality & price.

One sign states that the bottle has Dec 1923 stamped on the bottle. I do recall that I was told that the bottles that have that stamped on them are not originals but repro. Would this be the same for the sign??

The other one looks a little older and have a curve on it. Is this familiar to anyone??

Dave, I believe that both of those signs are orginal.  The date is part of the bottle display. Age is probably closer to 1960 but those are both pretty nice.  They are tin with an enamel type paint. These are usually not embossed but still a nice collectable.  I would pay 100 to 125 U.S.  Hope that helps.

You can tell the 1989 version of the Christmas bottles by looking for 89 and some other numbers about an inch or so from the base.  Also, the cities on the bottom are small on the 89 repros and larger on the originals.  :drinkers:
