Title: Jacobs 26
Post by: vendobaldtops on April 07, 2006, 04:32:17 pm
I just came across a Jacobs 26.  It is $800 bucks and supposedly complete. I will view it tomorrow hopefully.  It has faded paint but no rust and large dents.  Is this a good price?

I ask because these machines really don't do anything for me.  I picked up a nice original for $350 last month that I am still tinkering with to get working at least but I was thinking of getting this complete, functional one and flipping it to go after some Vendos that are in the area.

Any help appreciated.

The Walters guide (3rd Edition) rates an average condition model at $1500.00 and restored at $3200. Your mileage may vary.

I'm slightly biased, since I too am not gaga over Jacobs, but if you are sure you could flip it for a profit, and it's all complete I'd go for the profit factor. Missing parts or major work I'd walk, or offer less if you think you could recoup in parting it out.

Would love to have one... So weird looking... That's what makes them so unique to me... I
would be buying it if it where close to me and complete with just faded paint... There was
one on eBay but the seller stopped the auction... was up North (MI)  Neat machines...
You'll know what to do when you see it. Good Luck!
