Title: Coin return bezel
Post by: collecture on March 21, 2006, 05:09:57 pm
Recently bought this old laundromat coin changer. Simple little machine - uses the same type mech as in the small door soda machines except it has a quarter/dime shaft assembly. I will have to check, but I think the shaft length is about the same as the Cav33 mech. It appears to be missing the coin return bezel (see pic) as there are four rivet holes. Anybody know what it should look like? I imagine it is a flat stainless steel bezel similar to the coin entry bezel, but wonder if it has a lip sticking in bottom of the coin return opening. If it is flat like I think, would be a simple thing to make.

Did you get that on ebay? If so I think I was bidding against you. I would like to find one of those. They are neet looking.

Yes, I did just get it on eBay, but you were not one of the bidders unless you have another user name (only two other bidders - 'ccosner' & 'jadeitelady'). I think I got a good deal - $77 total inc. S&H. It is complete except for the bezel - it has the original Duo lock & key, coin box, etc. I don't see too many of them to know, but I have sold one of the quarter rejectors for $40 before - so...

Thanks Josh - that answers my bezel question. Just like I pictured. I got mine for a bid less than either of those.

If you or anyone else is going to bid on either one of those - notice they are 50 cent models, one giving back two quarters and the other returns five dimes. Besides, how many times do you have a Kennedy half dollar in your pocket.

Mine is a 25 cent model giving two dimes and a nickel, which can be used in the soda machines. I have three soda machines with changers in them (vend nickel or dime with a nickel change for the dime), so this will go well with them. Also, the mech looks different in those two than mine. Here's a pics of inside mine.

I really like those. I was thinking of another auction. The one I was looking at looked like that but it had a vendo style handle. I am not going to bid on either. Money is tight. I have spent a small fortune buying parts and paint for the 56.

There was a seller ("cokesjukes" I think) that had a repainted one for sale a while back. I think he was asking $200-$300 for it (can't remember). He had a Vendo Crank handle on it, but I don't think that was original to the changer. I think all of them had this star type handle. The Vendo handle will fit as it is the same type mech inside.

Hey - sell another HA56 for $1800

Great find! Will be looking out for that exact model.
Nice price. Looking for a slug rejector exactly lact the one in that machine.

Enjoy

Well, you may be right Josh. I searched back through my email correspondence and found an email last October concerning a changer I had interest in (picture attached). It had the familiar Vendo handle. He said it had a tag saying Continental Coin Devices and mine has a tag saying Standard Change Makers. So maybe there were two different manufacturers and styles. He sold it for $175.
