Title: Recent scams Post by: bubba on March 11, 2006, 10:02:36 am This came across another site I'm on, and I thought it was worth sharing. Someone on another site was selling something, and it just seemed a bit fishy, so they asked some questions. The guy has documented all the email back and forth from the scammer. Long page, but interesting as well.

I'd love to take credit for this creativity, but it wasn't me. It was someone from a site I belonged to a few years ago.. I'm sure that whoever was doing the scam is using some sort of language translator program, and as you know, not all words and context translates evenly. Title: Recent scams Post by: sodaworks on March 12, 2006, 12:03:33 am This brings back memories of a Nigerian scam that wanted to buy a coke machine that I was selling here on SMC about a year ago. No they didn't get my cash or machine!!

I think that is a form letter for all of their scams. All they do is fill in the item and the price, and they don't always get that right. It seems that they always have a client in the area that is willing to pick the item(s) up and drop off the check, so I usually reply to the effect of that their client can cash the check so that we can avoid all those pesky trust issues. Title: Recent scams Post by: on March 13, 2006, 09:16:17 pm I know some people don't think or are ignorant enough to fall for it but come on if you have the LEAST bit of common sense it is obvious. So much for a quick transaction I email ASAP and he never replied!!!
